Favorite anime genre

Well, I was just curious as to what everyone's favorite genre for anime is. I'd have to pick Action/adventure. You just can't beat action.


So, how 'bout you.


Oh, I know some like Magical girls and mecha are more like themes or sub-genres, but I thought I'd add them anyway.
 
If i ever see (or have already seen) an anime or manga that actually only has one of these Genre's as its only thing then il be very surprised, it Just dont happen (in Shounen or Seien anyway, dont know about the other 2).

Anyhow, definitely Action/Adventure for me.
 
Sci-fi.

Often, my favorite anime all fall under sci-fi, even if they have a bit of another genre as well.

Mecha can fall under it, as can cyberpunk. Those would be my two other favorites.
 
I went with romance, drama, and historical. I like romantic Tokugawa samurai stuff with lots of drama. Historical stuff is more intriguing, I guess. Robots and guns are fine in small doses, but it can't hold my interest for long. I think the only thing keeping me going through Samurai 7 was the great story.

Interestingly, I read mostly shojo but watch mostly action oriented stuff. Weirdo me...
 
Historical and/or Political series are pretty high on my list.

I also really like the action/adventure corabination (although there has to be a lot more than action for me to get into it.)
 
I don't have a favorite genre, in the sense that I don't actively go after one genre and shut out all the others simply because they aren't part of that genre. In other worRAB, I try to keep my tastes pretty varied. If a show is well-done, that's all that matters.
 
I've got favorites that can be broadly placed into Sci/fi, Fantasy, Action adventure or Just plain other.

The common thread, if there is one, is that I'll tend to like things which tell a story well in animated form, specifically something that would otherwise be imposible or just unfeasible to tell in any other media except maybe print, but then I'm not much of a fan of comic books or manga and I've yet to read a book where the characters do battle in GIANT MEGITECK MECHA powered by FOSSILIZED DRAGON HEARTS! That's the type of thing you only get in anime and that's mostly the kind of thing I go for.
