Favorite Animated Holiday Special Memories

Hey, guys!

So, I'm about to do a blog post on my animated Christmas/holiday specials memories. But, I'd also like to hear yours. What Christmas specials did you like? Did any ones scare you? What do you think is the greatest Christmas special?

For me, personally, the Rankin-Bass Rudolph is my favorite Christmas special, even in front of Charlie Brown. The characters are so unique, and the animation so beautiful, that it's unbelievable. It's just stuck with me.

My favorite animated Christmas special (even technically it was originally released in theaters) is Mickey's Christmas Carol. I was only about five years old when I first saw it, and I've just loved it ever since. Even though I watch it several times a year when I was little, it was a tradition that my family and I would watch it every Christmas Eve before my brother and I would go to bed.

Another special I love is A Disney Channel Christmas. It was made in December 1983 during DC's first year, and even though it's basically an extended "clip show" compiling various Christmas- and winter-themed Disney shorts and other segments, I watch it every year because Christmastime just isn't the same unless I watch it. (Fortunately, my 26-year-old VHS has held up remarkably well considering how much I watched it over and over throughout the '80s.)

Other favorites are How the Grinch Stole Christmas, A Charlie Brown Christmas, A Garfield Christmas, and Frosty the Snowman by Rankin/Bass. (Strangely enough, aside from bits and pieces, I've never seen any of the other R/B specials like Rudolph and Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town, despite them being on TV every December.)
 
Here are a few of my personal favorites:

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer-A true classic, most of the songs I tend to sing to myself sometimes. Not to mention Rudolph's voice actor also played Bright Heart Raccoon in the 80's Care Bears series (Nelvana).

How The Grinch Stole Christmas-I loved the book, so naturally, I love the special, directed by Chuck Jones during his stint at MGM in the 60's. Again, the song is a constant "Sing to yourself to make others think you're mental" playlist.

A Flintstones Christmas Carol-This is one of the best adaptations of Charles Dickens' classic story, with Fred Flintstone portraying Scrooge, while trying to get Pebbles a gift between acts.

I remember watching most of these in my childhood, and I grew up with all of these, sitting with my family near the fireplace, hot cocoa in tow, presents under the tree, feeling the true meaning of the season, family, not presents.

If I recall, Cartoon Network aired these (with the exception of Rudolph) in the late 90's along with holiday episodes of many of the originals (Dexter, Johnny Bravo,ect.)
