Favorite Animated Christmas Special?

It's the most wondeful time of the year indeed as some of my favorite animated Christmas shows will come on TV (or that I can simply watch on DVD). Which one is your favorite? It's really hard to choose for me as The Grinch and Mickey's Christmas Carol are so hard to pick but I also remember enjoying A Pink Panther Christmas and Yogi's First Christmas. I also like Rankin's Rudolph, although looking back it now - Santa was a bit of a jerk. This is going to be a tough one.

Among my favorites? Let's see...

Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, etc. The Rankin-Bass stuff in general is good, but those two are my favorites.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas-Naturally

Mickey's Christmas Carol-Again, naturally.

South Park: Woodland Critter Christmas-South Park's best Christmas special, in my opinion. Incredibly funny. Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics is another good one.

The Fairly Oddparents: Christmas Every Day! and Danny Phantom: The Fright Before Christmas: I missed the FOP Merry Wishmas last year, but the original was great. And I love Danny Phantom's if just for the novelty of rhyming.

Futurama: A Tale of Two Santas: Funnier than their first special, IMO

The Nightmare Before Christmas: This movie's a bit overrated, but I still love it to death.

My vote goes to The Venture Bros. Christmas special. It was just completely hilarious and deviated from the norm. How many specials have Krampus, the Christmas demon? I'm honestly surprised that angle hasn't been used very often in cartoons.

Also, The Simpsons episode where Bart shoplifted from a supermarket. I forget the name of the episode, but it was really touching.

Mickey's Christmas Carol. Heck, I sometimes even watch it throughout the rest of the year.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a very close second, though.

I like quite a few Christmas specials on this list, but here are my top three:

A Charlie Brown Christmas: I've been a Peanuts fan for years and this special is so nice and charming. Plus, it has some funny moments with Snoopy.

A Year Without a Santa Claus: One of my favorites from Rankin-Bass, which generally have some nice Christmas specials. I always watch each year and I just find the story and most of the songs pretty cute.

Rudolph and Fosty's Christmas in July: Another fun filled Rankin-Bass special. I liked how Rudolph and Fosty were friends and the background on how Rudolph got his shiny nose was nice too.

My favorite Christmas special has always been The He-Man/She-Ra Christmas Special. I'd say that you have to be a He-Man fan to enjoy it. I really don't think that you could show it to a child today and expect him/her to enjoy it. I think it's just a nostalgia thing for me. I'll definitely admit that it's not the greatest Christmas special ever made, but it'll always be my favorite.

There's a lot of really good ones on the list.

I do have to ask though, does anyone miss the California Reasons Xmas Special?

It hasn't been on in like 15 years, but I always remember having fond memories of watching it.

I have to send some love out to one of my personal favorites, A Garfield Christmas. I watched this every year every chance i could and I just hope ABC Family gets around to playing it sometime this month. I was heartbroken when CBS stopped airing it (and yet still shows that godawful Frosty Returns) because it had a true simple message at the end: Christmas, it's not about giving, it's not about getting, it's the loving.

It was a really hard choice between Charlie Brown and Micky's Christmas Carol but I had to go with Charlie Brown Christmas because it's the one special that no matter what kind of a mood I am in I always seem to cheer up when I watch it, it's a true classic and a timeless masterpiece. I even have the soundtrack and listen to it every Christmas, it's a tradition of mine :)

Charlie Brown Christmas. It managed to include the religious meaning of Christmas without feeling forced in any way, and it's all around charming and funny at all the right times.

I remember when it first aired and we had it on tape, but I don't know whatever happened to it. I used to watch it frequently because it was on a tape comprised of various Christmas specials and episodes, but it just sort of disappeared over the years. I didn't know it was apparently aired annually, though. I think I only ever saw it on TV that first time, and then all subsequent viewings were just when I'd watch it on VHS.

They probably just didn't air it anymore once the California Raisins fell out of popularity.

EDIT: It's available on DVD. :)

I don't know if they count, but I think Futurama's two episodes centered around the evil Robot Santa were hilarious, so I'll probably have to go with that.

But I also like the classics such as the Grinch and a Charlie Brown Christmas.

I vote Hey Arnold!'s Christmas special.... I guess that means I vote "other"....

Other great ones include the Rugrats Christmas Special,

and, of course, the Grinch.
