Favorite animated 'A Christmas Carol' adaptation?

I remember the Richard Williams version as breathtaking, even though it probably could have used another 10 minutes. I'd love to see it again.

anyway, I agree with everyone on Mickey's Christmas Carol, enspecially since it has the character Scrooge McDuck playing the character of which he was based off of.
 
The Mickey Mouse adaption has always been my favorite. While the story is short and a bit rushed, I've always found it to be heartfelt, charming and a bit scary (for a children's cartoon that is). The Disney cast to play the characters are perfect as well.

I've always found the scene where Crachett (Mickey Mouse) is at the graveyard shedding tears of sorrow over Tiny Tim's death particularly sad. In most shorts, Mickey is generally happy and carefree, but this is one of the rare times in which he's serious, griefstricken and solemn.

Also the scene where Scrooge is nearly being pulled into hell is pretty creepy too. I find that particular scene to be up there with Ichabod's horseman chase in "Sleepy hollow" in terms of Disney's scariest moments.

What "Fun and Fancy Free" was about were stories that Edgar Bergen was telling Charlie McCarthy, including the Jack and the Beanstalk segment. As Bergen was finishing, he fainted when the giant lifted the roof of the house!

I seem to recall that there was a Famous Classic Tales adaptation of A Christmas Carol. I vaguely remember the Williams/Jones version, if at all. I've only seen pieces of Mickey's Christmas Carol, but not the whole thing.

Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol, IIRC, came out in 1963 or '64, not '62. I've seen it a few times, moreso than the others on the list. Speaking of lists, here's mine:

Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. I've always thought it came out in '64, same as the Famous Adventures series. Very entertaining.

Stingiest Man in Town. A Rankin-Bass production often forgotten, with Walter Matthau & Tom Bosley. Seen it only once.

A Flintstone Christmas Carol. IIRC, Fred's juggling playing Scrooge and trying to find some last minute gifts. Didn't think it was that late in coming out ('94). Thought it was sooner than that.

Beavis & Butt-Head "Do Christmas". One of the few B & B eps I actually liked, as they not only parodied Carol, but also "It's a Wonderful Life".

 
Actually, "Famous Adventures" came about because of the success of "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol", though none of those episodes held a candle to Xmas special. One of the problems was they ignored that the near-sighted Magoo was an actor playing a part, with the solitary exception of the "Dick Tracy" episode, in which they wrote it into the story itself. Not coincidently, that was clearly the best episode of the series.

(P.S.--I don't understand why you never see Mr. Magoo anymore, you'd think that they might have brought the old cartoons out of mothballs when Disney did the live-action movie, just like they did with the UPA "Dick Tracy" toons when Disney did the "Dick Tracy" movie. I've never seen more than one or two of the old theatricals, the UPA TV series is just a shadowy nostalgic memory, I happened to see part of the "Arabian Nights" feature during a state fair years ago, and even the SatAM series is nowhere to be seen. There is more than enough Magoo cartoons to run several weeks, and they'd probably be funnier than a lot of toons currently running. Alas, if only Boomerang had the same classy management and system clearance that Turner Classic Movies did.)
 
I'm so Glad it's part of Snowed in at the House of Mouse. Which was aired quite a lot on toon Disney durring the Christmas break. I got to see it for the first time in like years. Very good.
 
Definatly Micky's Christmas Carol for me, it is an undisputable classic that has given me the "Christmas Spirit" year after year. They hardly air it on television anymore but I own it on DVD and it's one of the first Christmas specials I reach for year in and year out, everyone should seek out the DVD of this is your looking for a fantastic Christmas classic, the only special I can think of that I enjoy more than this would be A Charlie Brown Christmas.

I also love the shorts that used to air before the main story, Donald Duck and his nephews would have their snowball fight, Goofy would go out to the mountains to ski and Chip & Dale would infest Micky and Pluto's tree. Ah the memories :D!

Micky's Christmas Carol is definatly my choice of the options listed, suprisingly though I didn't know it was made in 1983. I would have pegged it for late 60's or early 70's, so I'm a little shocked to see that it was much later. Anyway, I love Micky's Christmas Carol, it wouldn't be Christmas for me without having seen it at least once, same with Garfield and the Peanuts classics...
