I bought, for 5 bucks, the Best of Dean Martin on Friday. It's been in my cd player ever since. I don't care what genre you are partial to, a good singer is a good singer.
When you first had that avatar I honestly had thought someone had snuck into Microsoft Paint. Then I was checking out Primal Scream and saw your artwork had landed on the front of a major album
actually, i have the kooks and don't much like it even though i've played "naive" about a houndred times...it's got 2 or 3 more good songs, but that's hardly a good album...
Much more of a straight ahead southern rock album than previous efforts, but still with gritty songwriting and subjects that most won't cover (crystal meth, anyone?)
Sign No Evil is a brilliant mix of free-form jazz, punk rhythm, and Jad Fair's distinct yelp-singing which all melRAB together to create a jarring and distinct indie rock record. This record feels like it shouldn't work, but it does - Jad Fair's snotty screaming is in stark contrast to the complex horn rhythms, and all the disjointed noise somehow comes together to create catchy hooks and melodies.
I can't stop listening to This is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About(modest mouse. The music is so uncatchy at first, but Iv'e heard it Ohio, Beach Side Property, and Breakthrough so many times I can't stop. Oh and on the side I'm listening to Frances the Mute(mars volta), what an odd corabination.
