I downloaded "Danny the Champion of the World" the other day and watched it again, a great underrated film Jeremy Irons and his real son Sam shone in it also Robbie Coltrane was great as the babbie Victor Hazel. Loved the caning scene at school too.

Of course "The Witches" imo will always be the best "you may wemoove your choos" :D

Most of them are pretty good aren't they, to be fair, though I don't like the Burton take on the Chocolate Factory.

For me, I will always hold a special place in my heart for Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. None better imho, though as you say The Witches, and also Matilda are great films.

Pam Ferris steals Matilda as The Trunchbull, she should have won an Oscar for that role if you ask me. Mind you I think the same about Angelica Huston's Grand High Witch. :)

I like Matilda lots. Danny De Vito and Rhea Pearlman are brilliantly horrid as her parents, Pam Ferris, as mentioned above, is superb as Miss Trunchbull and I've always had a massive crush on Embeth Davidtz.

I grew up loving Matilda aswell as James and the Giant Peach. Both are great films, but I find Willy Wonka a real gem too. My 3 faves.

The animated "BFG" will always be a fave of mine.

I still cant believe they haven't made "George's Marvelous Medicine" into either a film or cartoon. a MISSED OPPORTUNITY.

Such a hard question.

I love both adaptions of Charlie, I love Matilda, I love The Witches. Not seen it for years but I love James and the Giant Peach.

Has there been a Twits movie? I loved the book.

Apparently Roald Dahl hated Gene Wilder, and didn't like his portrayal of Willy Wonka! Very interesting. I actually prefer the recent one, its more colourful and weird and wonderful (to me).

BFG was excellent, haven't seen that in ages. I didn't actually watch the witches till I was about 12 or 13, because I used to always get scared and switch it off when it got to the first big meeting all the witches had and they took off all their noses and shoes. :o

His daughter Lucy said that her dad hated the 1971 film adaptation and refused the producers the film rights to make the sequel, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator.

charlie and the chocolate factory, gene wilder was brillant he was creepy, sinister, devious, but charming and likeable all at the same time, depp's wonka was just boring and lackluster.

I loved Matilda film when I was younger. I watched it pretty much every day for months and took to wearing a ribbon in my hair like she does:o

I also like the BFG cartoon, the Witches (scares me:o) and James and the Giant Peach.

I'm a huge Johnny Depp fan but I hated everything about his Willy Wonka. :( I thought the Wilder film was absolutely fantastic so maybe that's why Burton's seemed so awful to me!

Matilda is by far my all time fave! I watch it every single time its on TV and it brings back good memories cos I think I was about her age the first time I watched it as a kid :D

That said I think I've loved every film I've seen! Recently saw Fantastic Mr Fox and that was awesome!

The Witches was rather creepy for a kiRAB film looking back haha!

Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory always. I liked the 1971 version mind, but Burton's was everything I imagined it to be whenever I read the book. It was magical, funny, creepy, up-lifting..it was perfect. :D:D

Oh god, me too. Thank you, I don't feel insane for it now :o:p That film will always have a special place in my heart. :)

EDIT: Fantastic Mr. Fox too, much better than I expected.

Oh, and does anyone else think they should make a Georges marvellous medicine film? That is my fave book :)

And I think they could make a really good film now with all the special affects when he turns really big and everything.
