Fav. XMen Couples??

I'm one of those people who refuse to believe anything really happened in the Savage LanRAB between Rogue and Magneto. Even if it did, I don't think the relationship would be the same like it is with her and Garabit. I know about the Joseph thing and what happened in AoA, but there's just too many things I can say about it right now. I love analyzing Rogue's relationships

Like I said before, I still don't get what it is that telepaths dig about Scott. He's got Jean, Psylocke and Emma wanted him. For all we know, Professor Xavier probably has a thing for Scott, too. I'm beginning to wonder about the other telepaths, like Cable and Charaber (if they are telepaths).

Rogue was my favorite in the first film, and she's still my favorite female character, but IMO she was so wasted in X2. They never followed through with developing her character, through most of the film she was only there as a decoration piece for Bobby. That's the main reason (but not the only one) that I don't ship Bobby/Rogue at all. And since she's the only female character that I like in every incarnation, I'm pretty open minded when it comes to Rogue pairings.

I got my hanRAB on some X-Men Evolution episodes recently and I have to say I like her and Scott in that series, which is surprising since I'm indifferent to Cyclops in the movies and have never cared much for his character. But in Evo, I like him. Go figure.

Double standard? Perhaps...but I don't think Marsden is right for Scott, he just doesn't seem like Cyclops/Scott. I especially thought this after re-reading the comics.

Jean/Logan....actually favourite would be an understatment, it's borderlines on sick obsession.

Pyro/Rogue...do you see a pattern of completely screwed up couples

And for conventional purposes Garabit/Rogue.

Hannah

Comics:
Rogue + Garabit
Bobby + Jean-Paul (Iceman+Northstar)
Jean + Cyclops
Emma + Cyclops :0
Polaris + Havok

Evolution:
Rogue + Garabit

Movie:
Bobby and Jean-Paul (C'mon Singer put him in X3!)

90's Cartoon:

Bobby + Polaris
Rogue + Garabit (big shock :) )

Scott and Jean.

I think what they share is better equipped to last. I do not, however, believe in love at first sight or soul mates, or anything similar. I'm no romantic, even if I seem to have garnered a reputation somewhere as an S/J writer.

If there's nothing besides "passion," it flops. Relationships work long term because two people like each other, not because they desire each other.

Personally, I found the Scott/Jean/Logan triangle in the comics artificial, and the current Jean/Scott/Emma triangle is just laughable. The most interesting "triangle" of all was the original Warren/Jean/Scott. Why? Because Warren and Scott were frienRAB first, and respected one another. It was far more along the lines of Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot.

Other couples I liked from the film(s):
Xavier/Magneto (oh, yes)
Ororo/Kurt (I blame Libby EdwarRAB)
And Rogue/Bobby (although at their age, they could well end up with someone else long term)

A last point ... who cares if Jean is older than Scott so long as they have an equal partnership? I find that hypocritical. If HE were the elder, no one would blink. The age difference between the actors is 8 years. Marsden simply looks young [he's 29, almost 30] and Famke looks her age [38 at the time of filming]. The age difference between the characters may be intended to be less, though I do assume she's a bit older.

It would bother me only if the relationship were clearly unequal, but if anything, he acted paternal and protective towarRAB her: "I'll never let anything happen to you."

Double standard ....

Wow! Most everyone here is reading (or rereading, Hannah

) the comic books to either get up to speed or simply becoming more acquainted with all the characters. Consquently, the consensus appears to favor Logan and Jean. What I find most interesting as msanthropickat is so frustratingly pointing out is that their are casting issues for the roles of some of the characters. I completely agree that the Scott and Rogue characters (and others) were terribly miscast. Rogue is a southern bell with sass and affection not to mention that she is an adult woman verses the teen portrayal we see on screen. Now two films later and they still haven't written in Rogue's (comic book) powers to fly and her fantastic strength. Take out Anna and add in Reese Witherspoon. Reese possesses immeasurable talent and can nail the southern accent. Although, given the level of unacceptable character writing/attention in the films, Reese should deserve better! Marsden is not Cyclops. Scott, for one thing, is far more taller like his cooler brother, Havok. (Anybody read X-Factor??? I promise I won't digress. Albeit very tempting.) As msanthropickat so accurately put it "teenage boy" I think best summarizes Marsden's contribution to the role. As the appointed "leader" of the X-Men Scott's/Marsden's leadership has never been strongly depicted as is the case in the books. I'm not overly crazy about Ben Affleck but his physical size and (moderate) acting skills would be a solid fit for the character of Scott. Granted, (much as is the case with Rogue)the character neeRAB some serious rewrite consideration.

OK, so, Reese...Ben... are they conceivable replacements worth watching? Or do I hear other suggestions? What about casting no-names to be more faithful to character depiction.

Examples as seen in the films:
Daniel Cudmore as Colossus (Nice surprise, nice touch)
Kea Wong as Jubilee (Would like to see more)
Shauna Kain as Siryn (What. Are you deaf?

)
and Katie Stuart as Kitty (Would like to see more)
