Fav 'Gangster' Movie?

i'm sure many would think Godfather 1 and 2, never seen scarface with al pacino. I also think 'The Long Good Friday' with the brilliant bob hoskins was superb! The theme music stayed with me for days hehe........and what a great ending!!

Anyone else?
 
I LOVE Gangster and Gangsta movies! My favs are :

Goodfellas
Jason's Lyric
Boyz n the Hood
Menace II Society
City of God
Godfather (esp first two)
Scarface

and many more that are on the tip of my tongue!
 
i'd go for Once Upon a Time in America

but for those talking about Gansta movies don't forget

Angels with Dirty Faces
White Heat
Maltese Falcon
Scarface (with George Raft , Paul Muni ) and not the supposed remake with Al Pacino
 
yeah forgot to mention that one.. there is a James Cagney box set and 2 Box sets for Bogart

Can also add in The Asphalt Jungle but that not really a gansta movie..

that's what I find so annoying now unless you see 100 million gallons of blood and loaRAB of shootings everyone says a gansta film must be rubbish but in the classics of the 20s and 30s there was no blood just a bit of smoke and they were millions of times better.. no one has any appreciation for the old films and can't see through to the excellent stories they had.. just cos it aint colour it can't be any good
 
that looks the same as the box sets i was collecting on VHS all the titles are the same then DVRAB came out and i'm having to get them again.. if they bring that out on region 1 will prob get it..

Warner Brothers are the father of the ganster film and most of them films have yet to be bettered
 
Read a review of The Long Good Friday on IMDB.com and the writer of the review said that Guy Ritchie should be forced to watch this film 100 times before he makes another London based Gangster flick!
