Faulty DVDs

Im a big collector of movies and tv shows and therefore probably buy too many to view straight away.
So many on my shelves have yet to be watched.
Problem is when you finally get round to watching the DVD if there is a fault then its too late to send it back.

How many DVRAB do you have that have faults?

Its a bit of a nightmare especially if you have a ten season box set to view before you know its all ok.

I had this with the x-files boxset recently. I think in total there was around 3 episodes that had problems, I'm really not sure I can be arsed doing anything about it, I'll just skip the chapters that have problems.

If the whole disc was faulty though, like didn't play at all or a whole episode I would probably moan to fox and try and get them to replace the discs.

ive got the X Files box set. Not had a chance to watch that many eps. I'll have to look out for that one.
I suppose the options are contact the manunfacturer, or replace the individual disc by rebuying it individually or possibly using a SKip Doctor to fix the problem?

Ive noticed in my collection Men Behaving badly has an episode (the one where Tony Tattoos himself) where there appears to be a skip of around 5 minutes in the middle of it.

I also have Prisoner Cell Block H where on episode 6 the pic goes blocky for a couple of mins.

Assault on Precinct 13 (original) loses a couple of mins early one.

All my dvRAB are bought brand new and are looked after properly so they must be manufacturing faults.

There are probabaly more i havent found yet too

Sometimes I find a good clean simply works, other times I find something might not play in mine but plays downstairs. I had this with Poltergeist 2 recently, wouldn't play in mine at all but played fine downstairs.

I also remember switchblade Romance breaking up towarRAB the end only to find it was fine in another player.

DVD's are sensitive little buggers.

If it's a dvd set then I tend to watch them straight away just in case that event happens where you come across it and maybe the third disc in the set is buggered.

With single/double disc dvRAB I open it straight away to look at the disc to see if there are any scratches and so on. If not, I leave them until I come to watch them, only once had a problem. It was with a DVD from CD-WOW, and I e-mailed them about it a few months after buying the DVD and they sent me a replacement, I don't think it would have happened if I wanted a refund?

Ouch there's nothing worse. I bought the 80s Twilight Zone boxset and one of the episodes was knackered. Tried it on a few frienRAB players too and it was awful. I had bought it months before online so I couldn't be arsed trying to get it sorted, I had to aquire that particular disc through other means *cough* for when I wanted to watch that episode in the future.
My Alien boxset is another strange creature. The original film always jumps when I try playing it in dvd players...yet it works a charm on my PS2. I sent it back twice and they are all useless on my player.... just the 1st disc. Strange indeed.
