Fatigue with no cause

I've been feeling kind of fatigued every day for the last couple of years, but lately I think it's gotten a little worse. I find I often have to curl back up and go back to bed for another hour when I wake up in the morning, and I often fall asleep for an hour or two during the day when I haven't even exerted myself beyond walking around the house.

Caffeine doesn't seem to help; I can drink a cup of coffee right before bed and still sleep. Speaking of my sleep cycle, I always get 8-9 hours of sleep a night, with the occasional exception of someone in the house being loud and waking me up. I used to wake up feeling energized in the mornings, but I haven't felt that way since the fatigue began.

I'm just not sure why I feel so wiped out when I don't do anything that would make me feel this way. Sometimes I think it might be boredom, but I'm really not sure what the cause is.

Can anyone suggest anything that would help boost my consciousness or energy levels a little bit? No one will take me seriously if I say I want to go to a doctor for being tired...I would bet money I'd be met with a response like, "What do you have to be tired about?", so unless I can't get out of bed, I will not be taken seriously by the people I'd need to depend on for transportation. So, for now, I'm just looking for ways to get my energy up a bit.

wakkochic17, I actually was already tested for hypothyroidism a while back around the time the fatigue began. My results came back as "acceptable", which I assume meant no hypo.

jacquihull, I have considered the possibility of iron deficient anemia, but I also regularly take a multi-vitamin containing iron, so I don't know if that's the cause. Also, and this may seem a little ignorant of me, but aren't anemic people usually very underweight? Or, if they are women, experience heavy menstrual flow? I only ask because I'm actually very overweight and have a very light flow and my symptoms just don't seem typical of anemia.

Just make sure the test you received for hypothyroidism was not limited to TSH. My own experience was that my TSH always came back within normal range only to find years later that I had thyroid disease and a nodule. If you can, ask for a full thyroid panel to be done.
