Fast & Furious

Not a fan of these films at all, but just noticed on the IMDb that it made $72.5m in it's opening weekend making it the biggest release of the year so far (even beating Monsters vs. Aliens $59m opening weekend last week). Seeing as this is the fourth film in the franchise I would have thought interest would long have wained long before now and it would have made around $20m or so then dropped off completely until it came out on DVD.

You think it's got something to do with all of the original actors back in the film or was there nothing much else out at the cinema for people to go to?

I thought the 1st one was awesome, apart from the questionable scripting i.e. the "Dude, I almost had you" part was kust dumb

And I loved Tokyo Drift aswell, even though most people hate it.

Can't wait to see this new one :D

Never seen any of them, they're free to watch for me on my STB but I've never really had any urge to watch them.

Not exactly a supportive or informative response but a response all the same :D

I thought the first was really good. But 2Fast was hugely disappointing and I think Tokyo Drift just went too far away from the original idea.

This one seems to have gone back to its roots with the original cast etc. Looking forward to it.

Saw it earlier. The cut may only be 3 seconRAB, but it's so glaringly obvious - it's terrible.

Really enjoyed it though, very entertaining and easily the best since the original (I personally think it's probably the best so far, although need to see it again before deciding).

Also sets up Fast & Furious Five very nicely...

I was MAJORLY dissapointed with it if i'm being brutally honest.

I loved the first, and Tokyo Drift (I'm an avid lover of anything Japanese though lol) was definitly my favourite of the series but this for me was a letdown, particularly the plot :/

Maybe it's just that I find Paul Walker pretty terrible that's maybe the reason I didn't like this one as much, got to say though I love Vin in just about whatever he's in ^^.

6/10 from me i'm afraid.

Can't beat a bit of F&F.

Not only is Paul Walker ridiculously beautiful, the cars are works of art in themselves. Have SO much hatred for the new Subaru, though. Looks like a shitty boyed up Civic.

I'd quite happily have some of the blue beast Paul Walker drove, though, particularly because it was a mash up of three HOT RIIIIIIIIIIIDES!

"You still owe me a ten-second car!"

And Toretto's beast can now do wheelies to dodge bullets. It doesn't get any better than this.

I liked the first one
it was sort of 'hey we know its not the worlRAB best film, but weve made an effort'

problem then is, like so many other films, what was enough for 1 film, they try to drag out over multiple sequels.

Ahhhh, but this one was set between 2 and 3. So it's a sequel to 2Fast2Furious and a prequel to Drift...hence why Han says, "I might go down to Tokyo...heard there's some shit going down there" or something.

That's why Toretto is able to appear in Drift, at the end...because of the way F&F4 ended!

So it's not REALLY setting it up for 5, because 5 should theoretically follow on from Drift. Unless F&F5 charts the time that Dom spenRAB AFTER the end of 4 and before he gets to Tokyo...

it didn't wane because the quality was maintained for the sequels, esp with tokyo drift.
i know critics like to sneer at such films but its good summer fun, and it does it well. the track record has been good which led to a good showing on the 4th film.

I actually saw this tonight. Having never seen any of the previous films in their entireity I have to say I did enjoy it. From the discussions I had with some mates I saw it with who do follow the series it took place after the second film but before the third. Any fifth film would possibly be about Vin's time in Tokyo before we see him at the end of Tokyo Drift or it would be set after we see him in Tokyo Drift and carrying on his adventure in Tokyo and whever else in the world the guys go.

I have to say I did notice the cut during the head meets wall scene and it was quite obvious, even my mate said to me "it looks like they cut something there".

After seeing the trailer and watching the 'making of' documentary I was wondering if anyone could potentially answer this question. Are the film makers acting as if 2Fast2Furious never happened? After seeing certain clips in the trailers/'making of' it appears to me as if they are. Maybe the film will answer this
