Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

Okay, I just saw something that really intrigues me now. Could Vin possibly be in this third installment? Obviously not as a star or anything, but perhaps a cameo?

When I turned the TV on, there was a new [as in not one of the movie trailers and not one of the commercials on TV that I've already seen] commercial for 'Tokyo Drift'. About 15 seconds into the commercial, there was Lucas Black in his car trash talking. The next shot, Vin was in a car saying something like 'You ready, kid?' or 'You kidding me, kid?'

The scene wasn't in The Fast & the Furious, as in not in the actual movie [I don't really remember the deleted scenes and have yet to watch my DVD.]

But perhaps the movie studio's just screwing with us, which wouldn't surprise me.
 
I haven't even seen the second one, which I have on DVD for some reason. I think my bro bought it.

If there's no Vin, there's no me (going to see it).

The cars looked great in the trailer, tho.

I forgot to say that the theatrical trailer made the movie look like it was going to be better than the second one which I'm told is a piece of &#^#&(!.
 
In the long run, it won't matter.

The fact its even getting a theatrical release is because a little money is better than no money... Which actually is pretty stupid considering direct-to-DVD films actually make MORE than they ever would if they had been released in theaters in the first place. This is a pure case of greed on the part of the studio(s) and nothing more.

Thanks for the box office totals. Not as much as I expected from any of the movies. But, there was alot of competition, so I'm not too surprised.
 
This movie will bomb so bad at the box office. The film has straight to DVD written all over it. The first Fast and the Furious was the best one. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker made a good duo in the original. 2 Fast 2 Furious wasn't great but at least it had Paul Walker in it. Vin Diesel should have gotten over his pride and ego issues and starred in the second one. The third one has Bow Wow and the boy from Sling Blade. Tokyo Drift looks bad and will probably have a short time at theaters.
 
Another sequel?? :thud: Any (okay most. There are some exceptions) movie that attempts to have sequels, trilogies, or remakes is bound to bomb. I didn't like 2 Fast 2 Furious since it didn't really deal with racing or had that "sexual tension" like in the first one.
 
yeah i like Bow Wow normally too but i wasn't sure if he was providing some sort of comic relief or what it was!! most of the time the scenes with him just didn't fit in and didn't seem funny to me...it WAS pretty funny the first time he popped up in the cafeteria and sat down to Sean with his do-rag though, i was like what the heck!? :lol:

oooh edited to add: Tokyo Drift came in 3rd place over the weekend after Cars and Nacho Libre, bringing in $24.1M..

1. "Cars," $31.2 million.

2. "Nacho Libre," $27.5 million.

3. "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift," $24.1 million.

4. "The Lake House," $13.7 million.

5. "The Break-Up," $9.5 million.
 
This was scheduled to go directly to video/DVD... But the studio figured they could slide it in during the summer movie season where its target audience (teens) could lap it up. It will probably barely just break the top five when it opens, but then literally disappear after that... And be on video in less than three months (normal is six after theatrical run).

The whole street-racing scene is old news and this installment has absolutely NO star power in even the supporting roles, or one stand-out cameo like most real movies intended for the theater have, hence, why you can tell this was a last minute direct-to-video save.
 
Yeah, same here. Some of the audience even cheered when the camera came around and showed that it was Vin in the car. I just grinned, since I was spoiled [about his appearance] and knew it was coming. :lol:

Pretty much the only significant function Bow Wow's character did was introduce Sean to the drift world. Everything else--getting the crap beaten out of him for that iPod, random moments with girls, street vending--could've been deleted and wouldn't have mattered much.

Lucas Black's accent kinda got on my nerves. :lol: But I liked the badass attitude he had back in the U.S. when he was racing Zachary Ty Bryan's [hehe, Home Improvement] character.

I thought the little dialogue between Sean and Neela as Neela was drifting down the mountain was a bit lame. But whatever.
 
I shall see the movie but when I dont now. The movie are not out in denmark yet.
 
that movies online review is awesome!! i have been hearing really good stuff overall, which is assuring...
 
I am actually looking forward to seeing this movie. I saw both in the theaters and am going to see this one just for familiarity. I hope it blows my expectations away. The preview looks amazing though.

Seeing Vin Diesel in the very last scene made me beyond happy. Heck yeah I would have loved to see more than that dinky scene but I think it's beyond awesome that he did the cameo. :D

I agree, I hated that Han died. I really liked him!!

Bow Wow is a cutie and I do like him, but I agree that his character pretty muched sucked. They made him out to be so.........I don't even know how to describe it. I had just expected more I guess.

I thought Lucas Black did a great job and I thought the romance was very believable. I liked all of their scenes.

The cars and action and scenery were just teriffic!!!
 
i wasn't sure what to think at first either, but i saw a preview and it looked kinda cool. anyone watched the trailer yet?
 
Hmm, I just got back from the movie. And the theater wasn't packed at all. I'd say it was roughly a quarter filled. But then again, the cinema I went to had many theaters showing the movie. And from what I've heard, the cinema also had cars out on display to promote the movie. :goof:

Anyway, even though I went in with low expectations, I liked it. The racing scenes were awesome, even though some scenes hurt my eyes from the angles they were shot. There were some funny scenes, nothing overkill. It's the kind of movie I'd see again if someone wanted me to. Then again, I'm a fan of action movies to begin with.

There were some things I didn't like. Bow Wow in general.
[sp]I would've preferred to have Twink die than Han. I actually liked Han. Twink just seemed useless to me in the movie.

But yay for Vin/Dominic! I was surprised that his scene actually involved more than one line.[/sp]
