FAQ: Swapping your Smart Card

Well if as you say it is not possible to connect up your receivers I dont really understand your question, you will just have to wait until you hook them back up.

To add to Pinza's comment, yours is an unusual situation so just call Bell and ask what you should do. I'm sure it will be simple, you just have to plan for it. Let us know what they say.

During the last card swap, the process was to add the receiver to your account using the existing (old) smartcard number and then the "system" would automatically determine that a new card would be required. The card would go out in the mail within a couple of days.

In some cases it would be possible to use the receiver once activated (before the new card arrived) in other cases it was not so there was a short delay while you waited for the card in the mail.

The CSRs at some point should be able to easily tell you what will happen. For now (short term - next couple of months) , it shouldn't be a problem as the "old" cards still work until the swap is complete.

Yes. Very good or should I say, rather interesting Pinza.
Big month for Bell. Nimiq 4 up and running with a strong signal (and mostly beamed to Canada). N2 going bye-bye. And more to come.

I would imagine that with the absense of the N2 data, that there will be a miniscule savings in bandwidth only and not worth talking about.

received my new cards for my three receivers. One of the receivers is 4100 and currently does not have a card. There is a card # on the system information. Do I install this new card or does 4100 need one.

SO. Since the changes with BEV, recently the channels don't come in. I have the cardless box..mini..Not sure of the model...
4100 Software E625. I haven't had to hack anything, the channels just never stopped coming throung my line...until recent. I get the guide, a signal , except all I get is a black screen. Even on info channels and free previews.

Does anyboy know how I can get the channels again?

CARD SWAP IS STILL ON.....

swap process has not ended on 15th OCT..its still on..BUT..receivers still with the old cards will not receive picture on many channels...they will be on the guide but it will be just a black screen on the channels:

180 Super

You need a Smart Card.

Call Bell TV, they will ship you out a new Card.

The ONLY receiver models that are NOT getting Cards are the 6141 & 9242 HD models.

Before the card swap the receivers 4100-6100 and 9200 were cardless. Now a card is required for these models

You can always go on bell.ca and try to syncronise your programming, it might help

Call Bell TV and ask them if a card was shipped and where it was shipped. Make sure they look at the BILL TO adress (they have to open a tab to look at it, so often they will tell you the service adress, which could be different), not the SERVICE ADRESS. Clients that receive only an online bill often have problems like that. Their adress, for some reason doesn't get updated when they move and when Bell TV has to send something they send it to the wrong adress

These models were cardless when NEW. Over the last 18 months lots of 6100 & 9200 models were refurbished and shipped with cards.

Bell have missed a few customers, so all you have to do is call in and they will ship it out, 5 working days or so.

Hi... I got the new smart cards for my machines about a month ago. Since then I have had audio problems on both my 5800 and 9200 receivers (so far the 3100 is OK). The problem can be "fixed" by the "cut power & reinsert card" routine.

Now I am also getting video problems - no video. The fix is the same. I called the mothership and after the normal salmon run up the ladder got to a level 3 tech who took all my info and said they would be sending me new cards. Hope this fixes everything because last night on the 5800 I could see a recorded program on the list but when I selected it nothing happened. I gotta admit I do get a bit nervous about all these technical glitches when you remember that the same technology controls nuclear weapons!!

So, I was just wondering if anyone else has had any audio or video problems since installing the new cards.

you don't need to worry about it, just call when you are done renovating to have the card swapped. you will have to anyways, as you will be loosing all programming... the calls stopped because now the merge has been done.

With the implementation of the new encryption system on the new cards there are quite a few glitch's showing up. Video freezing seems pretty common. A new Card has fixed several dozen receivers I have been involved with.

About video freezing, this isn't caused by dust inside the receiver, just software issues? I keep my 3100 fairly clean from dust. This is happening since I've swapped cards. Not about to spend $99 for a 4100 when in a few years, I'm going to go to high def.

My 2 month program suspension came off yesterday. I hooked up the receiver, put in the new card and it went through the activation with no problem. Programming was restored in 15 minutes. Now all I have to do is finish the hardwood!

Hi, sorry, new here. I have been searching, it's probably right under my nose but cannot figure out where to go to activate my new Bell express Vu smart Card. Still using old 2700, lol. Where's this online tool? Thanks for any help.
