Isle Witch by Terry Brooks? Or is there another Isle Witch I'm completely unaware of...
Either way, Terry Brooks has written an immense number of books. Isle Witch is one of his more recent series, but he has several more series set before and after the events of the book. I love them all, but my favorites are the Word and the Void series and The Original Shannara Series.
Such a great author, how he manages to tie everything together...

Another great fantasy series is called Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. Such a great one! Currently there are three books out and a movie on the way.
