"Fantastic Mr. Fox" Talkback (Spoilers)

Just ignore John K. He's just a bitter old man who only makes cartoons to get back at his dad.:shrug:

Frankly, I don't think the movie would have looked quite as...interesting if it were animated more traditionally. It's a very deliberate style, and I really wouldn't mind if Wes Anderson put out a few more stop motion films, because his style works quite well with the medium.
 
I'm really perplexed why everyone is giving this film rave reviews, I saw it and it felt so incredibly bland and boring to me.

The characters came across as incredibly cliche, the whole subplot with Kristopherson and the son has been done a million times and it felt very underwritten and predictable.

The soundtrack was atrocious, dear lord, it was awful.

The whole film just felt like it had the quality of a TV show.

But that wasn't the only plot in the movie. I'll give you that it plays out in a predictable manor, though I liked the touches like how Ash really was a jerk, Mr. Fox's reaction to him trying to tag along the first time (and takes Kris anyway), or that Kris wasn't just better at doing stuff, but was by all accounts the better person, so Ash couldn't even take the moral highground.

And I don't really see what's clich? about an animated movie where...

...the heroes lose the war.

Yeah, this one's really subjective. Personally, this and Coraline are tied for two of my favorite animated soundtracks this decade.
 
Desplat's original score was good, but the soundtrack highlights for me were the use of the two George Bruns songs (Ballad of Davey Crockett and "Love" from Disney's Robin Hood) as well as some borrowed score music from Georges Delerue.
 
Yeah, the use of Davey Crockett really gave the opening a nice atmosphere.

I also loved The Beach Boys' Heroes And Villains during the opening infiltration scene. And the high-tempo version of the Boggis, Bunce and Bean song had a delightful "things went wrong" quality to it.
 
I was blown away at how amazing this film was. One of the best films of the year. I saw twice in the span of two days.

I loved the animation style. It looks very hand-made. That's what gives it it's charm. It works for the style of the film.
It does not have the incredibly slick look that so many CGI films have these days... nothing against CGI, I'm going to school to be a CG animator after all, but it was a nice change to see something that actually looked like the animators got their hands dirty.



And John K is incredibly wrong on this one.
 
Well, I will give you a lot of credit for being understanding that I didn't enjoy this film and actually acknowledge that film and any sort of entertainment for that matter, is subjective.

I won't name names, but there are certain users on these forums who will go out of their way to attack anyone who doesn't care for a TV series or movie and try and make them feel stupid for not liking it.
 
As long as you're not a jerk about it and the subject isn't about giant robots, I'm typically very understanding of others' tastes.
