Steven Spielberg one stated in an interview that he considered Rugrats to be one of the best kids shows ever, a "Peanuts for the youngest generation".

Let's list other instances of famous individuals (artists or others) being known to like a cartoon.

The most interesting one i can think of is that Hitler was a fan of Disney. A HUGE fan, in fact. He considered Snow White to be the greatest movie ever made, and on his birthday, Gobbles have him a couple of reels of Disney shorts.

There are also a couple of artists that are very well respected and acclaimed in their respective fields who actually considered Disney to be one among the greatest artists of their time. To name a few, these include Segei Eisenstein (the russian film director whom many film critics deem the greatest film maker of the silent era, if not of all time), who called Disney "Americas only true artist in the filmmaking industry" Salvador Dali, who considered Disney to be Americas greatest surrealist, and Charlie Chaplin, who considered Dopey from Snow White to be the funniest screen comedian of all time.

Moving away from Disney, i might also mention that Matt Groening once deemed The Powerpuff Girls the best cartoon currently on TV (when the show was in it's prime).

Oh yeah, and Obama is a fan of Spongebob.

But i liked the fact about Hitler. Never really thought of that before, but it makes sense with him being an artist and all.
 
I feel that i have to point out that i actually know very well that it's "Sergei" and not "Segei". I just somehow missed the "r". :p

And yeah, the Disney-fan aspect of Hitler is very fascinating indeed. Hitler was overall a real sucker for art meant to come of as wonderful, touching and beautiful (you know, the kind of stuff that makes you go "aaah, the world is so full of grace and beauty! I think im gonna have to cry out of happiness!"), regardless of medium. So it's really nothing strange that he was fond of Disney films, with their oil painted landscapes, choir singing, and themes of "good always triumphs over evil" (just to bad for him that he failed to recognize that he himself belonged to the evil side... but that's another topic...).
 
I happen to know a few on the top of my head...John K is a big fan of golden age animation, mostly works on Bob Clampett. In an interview he stated that he liked Powerpuff girls for mostly the animation, I wonder what he has to say about EEnE.

Doug tennapel mentioned on his site that he likes Popeye, I sense he's got a few golden animation tastes I bet. Ralph Bakshi has mentioned a couple of times in his interviews that he's not much of a fan of Disney, but he likes Pinocchio.

Btw thats a surprising fact about Hitler.
 
I know that Serena Williams (y'know, big women's tennis star) was a big fan of Avatar. So much so, when she was in town, I guess the creators gave her a small role in one of the Season 3 episodes. (The guard that was watching Iroh in the first eclipse episode)
 
Wil Wheaton likes Robot Chicken, Family Guy and Voltron.

I've read that Kim Jong-Il has a very extensive stash of Disney-related films.
 
I read in an interview some music based website did with Jay-Z that "Jigga" was a huge fan of Superfriends and the old Jackson 5 cartoon, I found it kind of cool and ever since I read that I have had a new found respect for him. I have also heard many celebrities mention Japanese anime as being a hobby and lots of people have mentioned the Batman cartoon from the 90's as being one of their favorite shows, sadly I can't pinpoint which celeb's said what.
 
I wonder if he's ever seen "Education for Death"?

Another one is George Clooney. He loved the "Spirit of Christmas" video, the animated short that inspired South Park, and was very excited when he heard a series based on the short was being developed.
 
He's also a fan of the Ninja Turtles (at least the original Mirage comics and the first movie, in fact, you could say he was partly responsible for Judith Hoag playing April in the first movie).

Among the cartoons that Kevin Smith is a fan of include: Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, The Flintstones (although the first live-action film was the only film he ever walked out on in a theater), the PowerPuff Girls, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Alvin & The Chipmunks, Underdog, the Mr. Magoo Christmas Carol, the Rankin-Bass hoilday specials, Batman: The Animated Series (and the other DCAU shows), Star Wars: Clone Wars (and most likely the Clone Wars mini-series), The Simpsons (he even attended the movie's premiere), Pixar's films, and probably alot more.
 
I heard Nicholas Cage named his kid Kal-El, after Superman's name on Krypton.

Also, when I become a billionaire, be sure to tell everyone that I think Powerpuff Girls is the coolest cartoon ever.

I remember hearing in an interview with Howard Stern, he explained why he's a fan of the show Smallville is because "I'll watch anything with Superman."

Also Craig Ferguson once stated that he's a fan of [adult swim] shows like ATHF. Plus, he was featured in the Spongebob 10th anniversary special, among others (LeBron James, Robin Williams, Tina Fey, etc.)
 
Back in the 1930s, Just about every human being on the planet liked Mickey Mouse (Hitler was an exception). FDR insisted that every screening he attend include a Mickey cartoon (or maybe a few MM cartoons).

Didn't Jimmy Stewart also fall in love with animation toward the end of his life?
 
Charles Schulz was a big fan of the original Popeye (aka Thimble Theater) comic strip. And so am I (although I'm not famous :D) The comic is nothing much like the animated cartoons. It's not at all about the Popeye/Bluto/Olive triangle. In fact, Bluto barely appears in it. It's all about human eccentricities and high fantasy adventure, and as old as it is, it's really funny. It totally totally rocks.
