Family Guy - "Welcome Back Carter" - Talkback [10/10]

This was a decent episode, although I don't think it was as funny as some of the previous. Odd thing is that Chris, Meg, and Stewie didn't appear in this episode at all.

And either way, Babs wasn't written out. On the contrary, she ended up becoming a stronger character because of this, taking Carter back on her own terms. Good for her.
 
No appearance from the Griffin children? Then again, they really wouldn't fit in the episode.

Obviously, the episode was better than last week's. About time the real comedy came back.
 
Nope, there's no new episodes until November 7th, as Family Guy is pre-emptied for Animation Domination's fans' least favorite event of the year, the baseball playoffs.
 
Satisfactory episode. Just one thing this episode really bothered me though:

"It's probably the wined."
"You mean wind, Carter."
"Really? I've only ever seen it written."

Not to bring up the Simpsons did it excuse that Family Guy gets enough of but the Simpsons DID do that joke and it wasn't funny then and isn't funny now. Seth McFarland, if you're going to steal Simpsons jokes, steal good ones, not the crap the writers constantly gave Marge to spew out of her mouth for the past 7 seasons. That's what turned me off of modern day Simpsons in the first place.

Besides, this only leaves Brian as the only main character appearing in every episode.

Remember, Peter nor Lois appeared in last season's Brian & Stewie.
 
I wasn't paying too much attention in this one, so I might have to rewatch it later.

It seemed like a decent episode, better than last week's but not nearly as memorable as the season opener. Plus, for all the crap Carter throws on Peter, their chemistry is some of the best to play off of in the show. I loved the limousine joust joke, as well as the boat show joke and the soothing version of Bird is the Word.
 
That's the point; it was one of those "things this character is least likely to say" jokes. The Simpsons ran 'em into the ground long long ago.

Yeah, it's not what I was told, so I had to eat my own words here. It was decent. More Peter and less Brian.
 
Great/hilarious/touching episode and loved the title which is the name of the old sitcom with John Travolta in it,

The highlights:
Peter mentioning Winnie The Pooh/hating PBS, hahahaha.
Young Babs is pretty hot.
Young Carter beating up Young Babs was funny, hahahaha.
Walrus riders, niice.
I love the Diabeto joke, so hilarious, hahahaha.
Peter seeing Carter having an affair was pretty shocking:eek:!!!!!
Peter's EWWWWs and the letter factory inside of him running out of Ws was funny, hahahahaha:p:D.
The church mouse gag.
The Paul Mc.Cartney's ex-wife gag.
Nice to see more of the Glen/Brian hatred which Glen slamming Brian was great.
Carter hates Two Fathers, hehehe.
Peter's revenge on Carter on doing the crazy stuff was awesome.
The jousting in limosousines/gay guys siren gags were so hilarious, hahahahahaha.
Uh-oh, Peter spilled the beans, poor Babs, the divorce begins.
The origin of fat women, hahahahaha.
That Jonathan guy is super ugly.
Peter taking down Reginald with the word penis, hahahahaha:p:D.
Bird's The Word sung by Peter in a slow soothing style, awesome.
Babs' character towards Carter was sweet/touching which I wonder how they'll work it out in the future.
Peter finding a genie's lamp, hahahahaha.

Man, first Cleveland/Loretta, Mort/Muriel, Stephanie, and now Carter/Babs on the whole marriage problems/situations, wooooow!!!!!!
I'm surprised that Chris/Stewie weren't in the episode, rats, but I'm happy there's no Meg though.
 
Weird how everytime the show jokes at the end about "see you next week", it always goes on hiatus. Same thing happened with "Tales of a Third Grade Nothing".

It's kind of sad that it is nice to see Family Guy attempt a coherent and straightforward story as opposed to expecting the great twist and turns fun of American Dad and (sometimes) Cleveland Show. Tell me, when's the last time a regular episode (i.e. not a special like the murder mystery) of Family Guy had you engrossed in the story? Whatever, at least the entire first act wasn't unrelated Peter hijinks like usual (in which Seth should just give up and bracket the show into shorts) and follows actual three-act structure.

Good show, strange lack of Stewie.
