Family Guy Viewer Mail

Are they ever gonna make a #2?

I was watching #1 last night and was amazed that there was no cutaways. It's the only FG episode where that happens. The closest was that Seasame Street thing but it wasn't really a cutaway per say.

I guess having to squeeze three segments into one episode forces them to, you know, focus on the plot!

I don't think there's ever going to be a #2, basically because in the original 3 seasons there was a sense of extreme wackiness, but even so episodes like Peter getting 3 magic wishes or the family getting superpowers would be too much and couldn't really be done within the show's sense (somewhat) realism.

But that was pre-cancellation.

Post-cancellation we've started more far out plots like meeting Jesus, at least two episodes about time travel, and stuff that would pretty much make another viewer mail just seem like 3 now typical Family Guy episodes that were trimmed down to fit the time slot.

It would be interesting to see what Seth and crew would do for a "Family Guy Viewer mail #2", but it'll probably never happen for the reasons that Tobias already mentioned; the post-cancellation FG episodes are already so over-the-top, there's no real way for the writers to "push the envelope" for a 2nd "FG Viewer Mail" episode. A "Viewer mail #2" would likely just end up looking like a trilogy of typical post-cancellation FG eps, only in shorts form.

I think it'd be funny if they did a "Viewer Mail" episode that addressed real complaints that people have with the show. Like they could do a segment where everyone treats Meg like some sort of precious gem, to the point where everyone is gushing over how great she is.

Just a thought.

Other thoughts...

They could take common viewer complaints and basically spit in the faces of those people by taking those complaints and doing entire segments based on them, but increasing it tenfold. For example, if someone complained about too much Herbert, they could do a sequence containing nothing but Herbert. Sort of a "day in the life" sort of thing. Even funnier is if they took the common complaint that jokes and cutaways are too long and either do a sequence where nothing lasts longer than 15 seconds or do a sequence that's just one verrrrrrry looooong, boooorrrring cutaway, such as this one I thought up a few weeks ago:

(Peter is pouring lighter fluid on an already lit barbeque)

Lois: Peter, don't you think that's enough lighter fluid?
Peter: Lois, when I'm done here these will be the best damn hot dogs you've ever tasted:
Stewie: Ugh, I remember the last time I added fuel to the fire.

(cut to Stewie in his bedroom. He's wearing worker's overalls and he's just finished painting the walls of his room)

Stewie: Now then. All finished.

(Stewie sits down and literally starts to watch the paint dry. Seriously. He just sits there for the duration of the sequence. He coughs a couple of times, maybe yawns once or twice, but otherwise just sits there watching the paint dry. Eventually, after about 7 or so minutes, he gets up and begins to walk away.)

Stewie: All right. Now to see what the internet thinks about that.

I like the idea of everyone treating Meg the exact opposite of the way that she's usually treated. That reminds me of the opposite skits on You can't Do That on Television.
