Family Guy - "The Man with Two Brians" - Talkback [11/9]

Cool WHip again? Bad form, Family Guy, bad form.

Not so much a good episode, actually was kind of creepy with the ending. Stewie's maniacal side comes and goes so much I don't even pay special attention anymore.
 
Oh come on. It's not like they simply reused the joke. They mocked it and turned it around. I doubt they'll go back to it after this. I didn't mind it.

The little pre-credit capper was funny.
 
lol At the ending and Stewie killing New Brian.

The overdone Buzz Killington and Cool Whip jokes kept this one from being great to me. This episode was just good. Which was more than what I expected, honestly.:sweat:
 
usually I hate it when they bring back a gag, but I thought cool wHip and Buzz Killington was great

I thought that some of the New Brian Tool stuff could've been shortened, otherwise this was a great episode!
 
A good episode, and a vast improvement over the previous episodes. The Jackass pranks were really funny, as well as the Stewie/New Brian scene, although it seemed as if the writer made New Brian evil as a last-minute change in character, but it was surprising and hilarious anyway; the same with Stewie being evil again.

BTW, is it me, or did they show the Griffins house transition too many times? I mean, a big chunk of the episode takes place at the house, so why show the transition so many times? It was kind of unnecessary.
 
Yeah, I'd actually say that that was the most disturbing scene I've ever seen in Family Guy. I mean, I know that they've done violent stuff before. But, this came out of nowhere. I mean, New Brian was acting all nice throughout the episode, then all of the sudden he's talking about humping Rupert, and Stewie chops him into pieces. I didn't understand why New Brian started talking about humping Rubert when he was nice throughout the rest of the episode. And then to see Stewie dragging the bloody garbage bag was just way too disturbing. I mean, maybe if there was more of a set up it might have been funnier. Like, if they made New Brian really evil. But, just having New Brian come out of nowhere talking about humping Rupert isn't enough of a set up for such a violent scene.



Huh? You mean you don't like big nipples? Hmmm...actually, I don't think I've ever seen a female nipple I haven't liked.
 
You mean like, hairy nipples? Nah, those don't bother me so much. But, maybe you mean old lady nipples, in which case, no, I've never seen old lady nipples.

But, Meg's complaint seemed to be that her nipples were big. I think I actually like big nipples better than little nipples. Don't girls with bigger breasts tend to have bigger nipples?
 
Imagine you guys stopping to talk so much about nipples... that's what I hope to imagine anyway and I'll do so by giving my review for this episode.

There are a few quibbles I have with this episode that have more to do then whether or not it was funny.

1. I don't know if the writers care about this or not but do you know how out of date they are making Jackass refrences? That show's ended for years and the only chance of it having anything new related to it is a third movie which may possibly never get made. So why are you referring to the TV show like that? I know FG likes out of date refrences but this seems like it's really stretching. Then again based off "PTV"'s deleted scene they may just like the show in general and think it's funny if Peter and co tried they're stupid stunts. Fine but at the very least give a shout out to the show not even being on anymore or something like that esepically considering that some of the show's fans may of never even heard of Jackass before. (Then again they may not care about it being out of date and may just be so pop culture centered in later shows that anything newer they know about may not care if it ended or not. Like that Dawson's Creek joke from "Peterotica").

2. In this episode Brian has been stated to be 8. In other episodes though he was 7. Which means he aged a year somehow yet no other character seems to have done that. Either they're being more unfair to Brian then usual or they kind of forgot that factoid. Really if Brian's 8 then Stewie should defintley be getting around 2 instead of just staying one and everyone else should be aged accordingly.

3. Is it me or are some episodes nowadays just using plots that are just expanded on cutaway gags? Like haven't we seen cutaways of a new dog being brought in to be with the Family. Peter's mentioned it a few times (like in "The Thin White Line") and Jasper was originally the second dog (see "E Peterus Ubrum") but now it's actually gotten it's own plot. It's either a weird way of setting things up or else they just need ideas so much they're reusing stuff they've done in smaller doses and expanding it.

That's not to say I dislike this episode. There were some pretty blah jokes I didn't really care for (like most of the cutaways really) but the plot was okay. I mean yeah the idea of there being a new dog that outs Brian seems like it's been done before but to make it more centered on Stewie hating him while the rest of the family still does (since normally the rest of the family would be tired of his nice guy act after awhile which they weren't actually) was good. They could of even dwelled more on just Stewie having a thing for Brian but that might of been pushing things too much and just keeping it on Stewie annoyed by his happy uncommentive behavior (though really did we need another cool whip joke even if it actually meant something this time) and then New Brian raping Rupert brought a fresh spin on things. I also liked Peter just freaking out the bees to sting Quagmire, New Brian helping meg out, calling American Dad "the show with the fish American Boy", the Griffins singing karoke, Stewie killing new Brian and the suicide note he left. Probably just as good as the last episode with the okay plot and some good jokes but a lot of annoying lulls with things you have to point out that are sort of obnxiously inserted in.
 
Maybe after they got Johnny Knoxville to do a guest voice they didn't know what to do with him, so they figured they may as well do a Jackass parody.
