Family Guy - "Quagmire's Dad" - Talkback [5/9]

Very sophomoric episode; I didn't laugh much at all the lazy "Hey, look, it's some gross thing!" bits. And I don't know why Aquaman is supposed to be funny, but at least he's not Conway Twitty.

What a barf. I think they were going for another reaction sequence on the level of Stewie accidentally nursing on Peter's manboob. That scene was classic not because of what he did but because of the reaction he had. This time, it doesn't quite make it.

I honestly only laughed a few times this entire episode. The texting bit was cute as was the different double entendres at the Officer's Ball. The second half was weak to me, never really found the constant puke jokes or violence funny on Family Guy.

Last line was worth a chuckle and I really felt that crippling debt joke was a bit too cold. (Seeing as I know people in situations way too similar) Long story short I thought this episode was too gross and mean for my taste and nearly funny enough.

Well, the Stewie/Brian relations did seem to evolve even before last weeks episode. I didn't really see anything new there.

I also wonder about Brian doing the Meg bashing, because initially Brian was the one who actually cared for her. Seems like after 'Dial Meg for Murder,' it's the other way around now.

Difference is that Quagmire knows he's a scummy little pervert and doesn't try to hide it. Brian acts superior to everyone else on a daily basis despite his multitude of failings.

That wasn`t what Aqua was getting at. He was talking about Quagmire ragging on brian for not seeing his kid that much, when quagmire has a large amount of children he's never even seen. That's the hypocritical part.

Forget about Brian being beaten-up; I feel bad about all the transsexuals who will continue to be seen as "less than human" after this episode.

At least it had a better "message" than "Mr. Garrison's Fancy New Vagina".

I think Quagmire would still have a point, he's mentioned he's not a good person. It's not the fact that Brian doesn't see his kid often, it's that he's constantly pretending that he's better than every one around him while he's really not.

This was an okay episode but it was kind of gross at times. Especially Brian throwing up for such a long time. Like others have said I think Quagmire should have let Brian explain what happened before beating on him for sleeping with his dad.

I share your exact same feelings man. I mean, what gives Quagmmire the right to beat the living $#!+ out of Brian for f---ing Ira without even knowing that he was Quagmire's... parent; when Quagmire had been with the wives of Clevelend and Joe with full knowledge?

All this makes me wonder "What would happen if Brian saves Quagmire's life?" I think that Brian would be declared a hero by everyone except Quagmire, and people would hate him for it.

Wow. After watching this episode, I wondered for a second: should I feel bad for Brian of just congradulate Quagmire for giving him what the people wanted all along ever since he became the Bill O' Reilly type of guy everybody hates.

But, I felt bad for Brian and Glenn could've been less brutal to him. Like Jeff said, Brian never knew that Ira was Quagmire's dad and was gone for a few days. I don't know, maybe we'll see some reconciliation between the two next season. Quagmire's hatred of Brian is kind of getting overdone.

good observation. but i guess if they used real life logic for everything then brian wouldn't be a talking dog that drives a car, has teaching jobs and is writing a novel.;)

These last two episodes have been really really....creepy..for lack of a better word. Entertaining but disgusting none the less. I mean everyone has to feel for Brian right. If he isnt licking crap off a baby's diaper and butt, he's having sex with a transvestite. His last line was epic though lol.

One other thing too just to add to the list of inconsistencies I guess. I was watching one of the old ep. of FG on TBS when Quagmire mentioned to Chris that he never had a father when he was growing up and that he was just raised by his mother. I lold to myself.

I'm sorry, I just can't feel sorry for what happened to Brian, he's arguably the most annoying character on the show now, and I feel that he has truly earned title as "The New Meg".

Could be two things:
1) He could have just been lying to Chris for whatever reason.
2) Just another continuity error.

Why do these groups even bother? They should know by now that Family Guy's writers feed off of such negative press, as it only gives the show more exposure which makes it more popular. Half the time, the FG airs content like this just because they know that it will tick people and groups like this off.

It's like Peter himself said at the end of the episode "Boys Do Cry": " If you're watching a TV show, and you decide to take your values from that, you're an idiot. Maybe you should take responsibility for what values your kids are getting. Maybe you shouldn't be letting your kids watch certain shows in the first place if you have such a big problem with them, instead of blaming the shows themselves. (short pause) Yeah."

This episode only got better as it played out and it led up to one of the funniest final lines in the show.

Could be that his dad was at war or busy with naval duties while his mom raised him.
