Family Guy - "Ocean's Three and a Half" - Talkback [2/15]

A lot of the jokes are just potshots at things that aren't exactly common knowledge stuff, but just things a lot of the writers find funny that the audience afterwards is like, "you know, that is actually kinda true."

You may have misunderstood me. I didn't insinuate that the name "Keith" is a horrible man's name in real life, just as far as the characters on the show are concerned.

And yes, I completely agree with your assessment. I think that is where a lot of those Family Guy potshots come from, as well as a lot of the Herbert and Bruce stuff. Mike Henry must be freakin' hilarious in the writer's room and during table reads considering how often his characters make it into the episodes.

I thought the joke was that it seemed like the answer would've been "Peter", due to how much Carter hates Peter, but then it turned out to be something entirely different.

The Stewie music video wasn't really "too long" because it was part of the plot and, well, it was a music video. It made sense for it to be that long. Did they have to show the whole thing? Depends on your taste. But it's not like they just took something and stretched it out ridiculously for the sake of being weird.

On the other hand, there's the Christian Bale gag. It was fairly funny, even though it was a total cop-out in terms of animation and it completely destroyed the flow of the episode. But as someone else mentioned, it's going to be horrible in re-runs. I think I've already gotten all the laughter I'll ever get out of it (which really wasn't much).

See for yourself.

Hysterical, but it won't air on TV.

"Yeah, do we really need another Terminator?"

"(gasp) Are you asking me out on a date?!"

EDIT: According to Wikipedia (i.e. grain of salt, take it), the next FG episode to air is "Family Gay" on March 8th, and of course not March 1st, because that would mean being consistent...

The Bale thing was hilarious.

"You punch your mother with that mouth?"

and after Bale says "We're done professionally!"
Peter goes "Just professionally?(gasps) Are you asking me out on a date?"
:anime:

I don't believe that was the whole song. I think they skipped the entire first verse.

Meh, if you want a sequence that ruins a rerun for me it would have to be that third chicken fight from "No Chris Left Behind". It's well staged but it isn't funny. And at more than 5 minutes long - complete with a pause in the action midway though - it just kills the flow of the entire episode. It's even worse when it airs on TBS because they air a commercial right in the middle of the thing! I'm rarely aggravated by long Family Guy cutaways but this one is enough to make me change the channel.
