Family Guy "Meet The Quagmires" Talkback

Well, I think that's a good thing. The show has been going a bit downhill this season, so it's good to see something that looks like an earlier episode.

So does this mean we'll see SKL next season or is this just going to be one of those unaired eps like "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein" which actually did air even before the DVD came out? We might have to wait and see on that.

That's something I was wondering about that too, since they used the real Jetsons instead of the crappy animation used for them in "Brian and Love," I thought they'd just go through the opening the way it really was, so I was pretty shocked to see the banter between George & Jane. Seth must have worked out a heck of a deal with Hanna-Barbera for that one.

Anyway, I remember "Back to the Future" so I really liked this parody. Though one thing I've noticed is that the Griffin kids didn't get too much airtime. They usually at least give Stewie a good subplot, but I guess it would have been hard to do that in this episode. Besides, it's good to see a plot that focuses on Peter and Brian since we haven't seen those in a while. Another good thing was that there was no sign of Herbert. I did like that the Giant Chicken showed up though. I also thought it was funny how Peter kept messing up when he went back to the time Lois asked him to go to the club with her.
PETER: Death.
DEATH: You know what. Just forget it! You're on your own now.

Man, a awesome episode of Family Guy! Bout time too! The last 3 new episodes weren't really that good and I was starting to wonder if they were losing thier touch on the series.

This one ranks up there with other favorite Family Guy epsidoes which I will soon create a list.

LOL! I'm still laughing at all the BTTF jokes, Breakfest Club, Roger outta of no where, Brian playing the guitar and doing almost what Marty did in BTTF1 and Peter dancing everytime with Cleveland.:D

I wish they'd have played with the Lois x Quagmire kids. Strapping a Quag-chin and making them say giggity was just not creative.

Now, what I liked was
Peter at the bar dancing to the beverly hill cop song(or what ever)
Chicken in the 80s
Roger

FG seems like a show that would do more with time travel... But this was a pretty decent episode

The "rickroll" was started when the GTAIV trailer came out. People would link to youtube, stating that the url contained the GTAIV trailer. Instead, they'd get a nice dose of Rick Astley singing "Never Gonna Give You Up."

Think something like:

Hey guys, check out this sweet trailer for Starcraft 2.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0

Basically it's a big "Made you look." Another part of the joke is, look at the guy. You couldn't find a skinnier, whiter guy in Crown Heights, yet his voice is so deep. That's not logical.

Well, The Eppy Wasn't That Bad Of A Season Finalie, I Mean With The Back To The Future Part 1 Gags, Axel F Performed by Peter, Death, The Jetsons, And An American Dad! Cameo By Roger... I Will Call That AD! Cameo, Teh Win.

"Meet The Quagmires" 4/5 - Despite The BTTF Gags And That AD! Cameo, It Did Not Get Me Laughing Hard... The Only Times I Laughed Hard Were That Cameo, And The Simpsons Pulling The "Production Cards" On Us To Prevent Homer From Saying That FOX Is Nothing But People Who Are Underpaid, Forced-Worked, Liberals Who Made Junky Shows That No One Cares About. Homer, Your Right, FOX is a Bad TV Station... (I May Need To Post That Simpsons Referance To The Ep 400 Thread, But The TZ Mods Won't Mind If I Would Post It Here... My Apologies.)

Great episode! It was light on the cutaways and heavy on the plot. I think that's what helped the jokes, when they're not so heavily emphasized. Even something like Peter repeatedly going back and Lois saying the same thing about Zapped was funny. It didn't feel long, and Peter had different reactions to it.

The 80's setting worked. I loved the first Chicken encounter and the Rick Astley thing. "Here's a song by a gay man." Seeing the kids Quagmire-like was freaky. I knew they'd do something weird with the ending, I like that Roger showed up.

It's a sign that Big Brother is watching.

I don't think so, Meg was like that because she inherited Quagmire's libido. Something she wouldn't get from Peter.

So we finally got a Herbert-less episode after so long. I wonder how many episodes he's been in this season?

Oh, I've been in all of 'em, sweet cheeks....mmmmm.

A'right- THIS is what I'm talking about! One of the best Family Guy episodes- EVER!

'80s Chicken
BTTF parody
Brian pulling Peter away from Cleveland's dance scene
Death
Jetsons

Yeah- they did TONS of Liberal ***-kissing, and tons of Conservative slamming, which was getting old, I won't disagree, but it was a phenomenal episode, nonetheless.

Worth noting another continuity error though- Peter pulls a cutaway, while he's in '84, regarding Hellraiser...yeah, that movie wouldn't be out for another 3 years.

So, about Quagmire- basically, he's a sexaholic to make up for the fact that he can't have the one woman he wants. Interesting.

Maybe it was the fact they didn't focus on the full family (and unlike pretty much any other episode I can remember they didn't give Stewie any huge scene stealing bits of dialogue which is good because they aren't too funny for the most part anymore) and the fact that some of the was too focused in the past to do long cutaways but I found this more enjoyable then most FGs. I mean even the morale about Peter realizing he should be happy spending more time with Lois and not try and ditch her to party actually felt more heartfelt and sincere then most FG lessons (even if it is sort just a twist on "Death Lives"). Plus this one had a good set of jokes: Death's appearence, Past Cleveland wanting to high five everywhere, 18 year old Lois getting Brian Hot, the kids infused with Quagmire (I'm glad they kept that as a quick joke instead of extending it and making it unfunny), the new future with Al Gore in charge, The jetsons cutaway (I always did dislike the intro with Jane taking all of george's money so glad to see her in some form get's what coming to her), "Brian I don't know who any of those guys are", Peter blowing his chances with Lois in the past, repeating the dance at the club, bumping into the chicken at the dance (That was the "refrence to past episodes fans will love" Entertainment Weekly mentioned) and the ending with Roger in the Griffin Home. Funnier then his AD appearence but that's for another review. For now good solid ep actually.

A radio ad before the episode aired said that the theory is more outrageous then the theory of evolution. Then it got replaced with the Tom Cruise cutaway and introduction.
