Family Guy - "It's a Trap!" - Talkback [5/22]

Well, I expected them to poke fun at the show's flaws, but the studio's milking of the DVDs as well? Whoa, balls there.

So I lowered my expectations as asked, and I highly enjoyed myself! It's not up to the first's quality, but on the same level of the Empire parody. The nodding gag went on far too long and I thought Boba Fett's death scene would have been included, but oh well, minor flaws. So in the end, a solid trilogy. (3.5/5)

Highlights: Pee-Wee, the Ewok pillow fight, randomly exploding Scout Troopers, Power Station, the sock alien and Stewie's snapped neck.

I wish they kept the ET reference in the episode, due to Mary Hart's recent retirement from the show.

What's with the American Dad characters in these Star Wars parodies? AD isn't even a part of the FG universe, and I'm not counting the cameos.

Spaceballs is a better Star Wars spoof.

Is Meg the Rancor? I wish Meg gets a better role than just monsters.

Nope, Meg's the Sarlaac. Rush Limbaugh is the Rancor.

Actually, I remember some more and will be adding them right now (particularly a couple more guest voices cut from the episode).

Is it just me or did this episode skip all over the place in terms of the movie?

I'm gathering from the thread not much was cut out from the DVD.

I mean we didn't even get explanations how "Luke" got to the death star or the start of the assault or anything.

This episode really jumped around. I was really hoping that the DVD version was more in the 1.5 hour mark because it felt like they needed a lot more time.

I'm really disappointed.

I caught bits and pieces of this while doing other stuff, it didn't really hold my interest. I didn't like the last one either though. Hopefully they'll change it up next time, maybe a different theme every time (I really liked And Then There Were Fewer)

Four Kings was a short-lived sitcom that Seth Green starred in as part of NBC's attempt to revive its Thursday night lineup.

A few notes here:

-Keep in mind that there's probably a few more cut scenes that I haven't listed yet (as I've really only seen this episode once beforehand, although I do remember some of the jokes that were cut from the episode), so the disjoined feeling could be due to cut scenes that haven't been mentioned yet. After all, something tells me they at least some bit of Luke showing up at the briefing of the latest Death Star.

-Luke getting to the Death Star isn't a problem. Basically, the ship that landed in Endor after Luke talks to Leia is most likely the same ship that was used to take Luke there.

-Oh yeah, the start of the assault was a cut scene (as that scene is supposed to set up the idea of Rallo as Lando's co-pilot).

EDIT: The full list of scenes cut from the TV version is complete. It's located on the first page the same place where the list was earlier (only with no spoiler tags).

Yeah. I can't help but wonder if they really will do those on "The Cleveland Show" like Peter mentioned.

Yeah. Quite a few cameos from 'The Cleveland Show' and 'American Dad.' That was kind of neat.

I thought that was a pretty good one as well. I like the cameos of Pee Wee Herman and Cleveland's Scooby-Doo reference. Though that actually might have been a reference to Casper when someone would shout "A gh- gh- ghost!' I don't know. I also liked how the referenced the opening of 'The Muppet Show.' (The chicken coming out of the bear's trumpet.)

I also liked people referencing their voice actors as well. Though I was thinking at the end Lois and Meg might start talking about Alex Borstein and Mila Kunis. Lol.

Well this was pretty weak.

Granted, a webcast also had my attention at the same time, but it was just pretty hard for me to pay attention when it was on. There wasn't really a whole lot to get into - kinda reminds me of the actual Return of the Jedi movie in that way. To list all the jokes that fell flat for me would take an age, so I'll just say that I enjoyed the cameos from the American Dad/Cleveland Show characters. I chuckled at the "what, are we out of own characters already?" line, Meg as the Sarlacc, and Peter/Han Solo making the soldiers dig their own graves. I also liked the Seth Green jokes.

Nothing else really worked, honestly.

I watched this on DVD and I thought it was OK. I'd say it is the weakest one of the Star Wars parody trilogy and it did feel like it was reflecting the fact that Jedi is the least favorite of the original 3, especially considering the crawl said they didn't want to do this and how the family was dreading doing this one. As for the edits, I knew that the Osama Bin Laden was going to be cut. It would be rather pointless for him to say "I'm still alive." In fact, me and brother both said "No! You're not" when we watched that recently.
