Family Guy - "Family Goy" - Talkback [10/4]

I thought it was pretty great. Kinda slow second act, but I expected horrible, horrible jokes, and it delivered just that.
 
exactly. I don't see why they decided to do another Jewish episode. Was it to compete with the other shows that do that every few episodes (that show doesn't make tasteless jokes like "Jews love Salmon").
 
Don't bring that show into this, cohen. That never ends well. And you don't want to get me started.

Anyway, decent episode. Not as good as last week's but still enjoyable.
 
Can't help but notice the table at the bar looked a little less full without Cleveland there.

Pretty good episode again. 2 straight good ones. Really wasn't expecting that after last season. Hope they keep it going.
 
This episode was definitely a turn for the better, compared to most of last season. The first act with the cardboard cutout was a bit dull, but it got better afterward. The plot set up a lot of good jokes. For example, they parodied Schindler's List not just because they felt like it, but because it tied in with the episode's plot and the result was funnier (or more horrific, depending on your tastes) than just "remember that movie?" Even the obligatory religion bash at the end was funny because having Jesus himself deliver the punchline coated the whole thing in absurdity.

And if you found this episode offensive, consider this. The writers were not bashing Jews at all. Peter was being a jerk to Lois, and Lois fought back -- that's it. You shouldn't take that personally, even if it makes you uncomfortable.
 
One thing I don't understand is why the people who get offended by things like jabs at certain religions even watch Family Guy in the first place. The show's been on long enough for you go know what you're getting yourself into.

If you're the kind of person who takes religion seriously and gets easily offended by mocking and stereotyping, why even bother with this show? Surely, there are other things you could be spending your Sunday night doing.
 
I noticed that Brian was hardly in the episode. It was funny at the end when it looked like Jesus was dismissing what Brian was about to say about another religion (could this be the crew's response to fans complaining about Brian's opinions/ views?). The live-action cut-out was a very funny idea.

Hmm, two episodes in a row without the usual opening. I wonder if we'll ever see the opening in a new episode again.
