Family Guy - "Family Gay" - Talkback [3/8]

Actually, Peter told everyone that all the white bottles in the refrigerator isn't milk. Stewie is seen eating cereal, looks at his bowl, then proceeds to suck on his spoon of cereal with what is imply to be horse sperm in a slow manner.

Y'know, it wasn't really even all that disgusting. It wasn't overly graphic or anything; if you had the show on mute, you would have no idea that Stewie was eating anything out of the ordinary.

At the same time, if you had South Park muted, half of the show would look quite innocent.

But I don't know how many people watch shows muted so.

Reminds me of that "joke" in the second Austin Powers movie where Austin complains that a beaker full of dark liquid "smells like s***", and is told it is s***, then drinks it anyways.

Honestly, that's the lowest form of "humor" imaginable. I can accept the occasional fart joke, but having a character knowingly and willingly ingesting someone else's bodilly fluid(s) is just going too far.

It was all innuendo. The joke was that it was probably milk but he had to second-guess it. By explaining how offensive the joke apparently was, these parent groups are actually making it worse.

Although the joke was gross is it really hurting anybody? Those people are acting like they went and told children to drink horse semen (Or second guess your milk). I mean really why are these parents watching this show anyway? Their children shouldn't be so why are they, they put a disclaimer up every episode telling them what its going to have in it. I'm getting tired of people trying to find some agenda against every little offensive thing if you don't want to see it get a v-chip or become Amish.

Stewie didn't drink it. It's ambiguous, but there's nothing to suggest it wasn't milk. He tried it and knew he dodged a bullet. You can tell by the way he cautiously went about it. Stewie may or may not be gay (something else that's ambiguous) but there isn't anything whatsoever to imply that he'd knowingly taste an animal's substance such as.......that.

Also, to anyone in this thread who said that he did drink horse fluid, I must ask, what does that say about yourself?

You are actually correct dth1971, someone did a parody of "Dragons Lair" called "Chicken's Lair.. A little background on this one:

Chicken's Lair,
is in fact nothing more than an animated spoof of the Don Bluth laserdisc video game, "Dragon's Lair". This parody was created by the genius of an animation artist by the name of Kevin Karstens.

Mr. Karstens actually came up with the idea for the parody, "Chicken's Lair". and in Mr. Karsten's creation, he actually got a review of it from none other than Alex Borestien, (The Voice of Lois Griffin) who not only viewed the spoof, but actually allowed the writers of Family Guy, including Seth (McFarlane) to see it as well. Here's what Alex Borestei said about "Chicken's Lair":
Now this brings up an intriguing question, after all my friend (Mr. Karstens) created this as a spoof, nothing more, nothing less, yet in the quote, Alex points out that the entire writing staff of the show, including (MacFarlane) viewed the Chicken's Lair spoof that Mr. Karsten's created, and they (The folks at Family Guy) enjoyed it..

So this brings up an interesting question with this episode.. Did MacFarlane and the writing staff decide to take the idea of Chicken's Lair and turn it into one of their episodes? Frankly I would love to see this Dragon's Lair segment and cross compare it to Mr. Karsten's spoof of Chicken's Lair. Because it makes me wonder if they (the writers of Family Guy) including Seth McFarland, actually copied Mr. Karsten's parody and decided to re-parody the idea as their own.

Now all I'm waiting for is for the writer's to re-spoof Mr. Karsten's other spoof dealing with Family Guy and the second Don Bluth laserdisc video game, Space Ace. After all Mr. Karstens did a Family Guy parody of that one as well and called it "Space A**" Mr. Karstens didn't get good reviews of the second parody (As certain fans thought that Karstens was spoofing Family Guy, but I bet sometime in the future, MacFarlane and the writers of Family Guy will find this one (more than likely on Youtube where it is located), and do their own respoofing again.

(But on a side note, Mr. Karstens is now spoofing "Family Guy" yet a third time with the movie "The Mist".. and yes they are on his Youtube account (where he goes by the name 'cecinid' located here.)).

:coyote:

While IMO the joke was harmless, I do recall a scene in Jack(donkey) Number Two where Steve-O ingests a cup of horse semen. The movie was rated R and the scene was still censored, so that really puts things in perspective here.

There were approximately three laughs in this entire episode, all at the tail end; the pig among guineas pigs cutaway, Peter taking back the balloons, and Mort throwing the dead horse through the Griffins' window. And to get to these marginally funny moments, I had to wade through 21 minutes of comedic tundra and, well... crap.

I don't want continuity or character development either, not on this show. I want to laugh too. But I don't laugh at the same old thing done over and over again -- or at least, not as much as I laugh at a show that takes more risks and does the unexpected. I don't think the general public is stupid, I just think they don't know what they're missing. (And, well, I guess there are a lot of stupid people, but there's no sense worrying about what they think.)

And yeah, none of this is important in the grand scheme of things, but it's a forum about cartoons and that's what we do. This isn't my entire life, just a small part of it.
