Family Guy - "Dog Gone" - Talkback [11/29]

Meh, alright episode. Loved the ending (didn't screw it up with a "Hey I'm alive!" bit that woudl have went south), the Humane Animal Society video, the reactions to it, and of course the PETA/Peter bit.

But other than that... alright.
 
Every time I've liked an episode this season, you seem to have disliked it. lol (Not a knock against you at all, I just thought it's a strange and funny phenomenon. Though I guess it shows that people with very different senses of humor can enjoy the same comedy show, albeit different episodes.)
 
We got our first "serious" moment in years from this episode, and I wanted to like the character depth, but at this point Brian has so worn out his welcome that I felt like slapping him instead of empathizing with him.
 
They're still falling a little short of greatness, but I continue to have an overall good feeling about this season. I agree that some of the violence seemed unnecessary, and usually that doesn't even faze me (in cartoons).
 
I didn't find anything too bad in this epsiode, not even the violence (which was pretty much par for FG, anyway). I dare say I find Peter/Lois's PETA routine funnier than Stewie's "Cool Hwhip".
 
It's funny as it actually feels natural as Peta is how Lois always pronounces Peter. The Cool Hwhip gag comes out of no where.
 
From the ending of the episode it seems pretty clear that he didn't even really care about other dogs. He just thought from his family's reaction to his confession that they didn't value him as much as a person. I mean, Stewie killed a stray dog in order to fake Brian's death, and Brian seemed happy that Stewie did that for him. Brian truly proved what a despicable character he is in this episode. But, it was a pretty funny episode, so who cares?
 
That was a good episode. Alot of the gags were funny (the Family Circus dad, the Kool Aid gag, the dog being tortured by NPR, the "tied up" dog, and even the opera singer being prematurely cut off), but oh God, the PETA gag just killed me.

It was nice seing Stewie help Brian out for a change, and I acutally felt bad when the Griffin's were sympathizing over Brian's fake death. Nice to see an episode end with a moral. (Well, before the opera gag anyways. :p)

So yeah, I enjoyed it.
