Family Guy - "Dial Meg For Murder" - Talkback [1/31]

I enjoyed this episode a lot because FINALLY Meg got to fend for herself.

But of course it will all return to normal next episode. (in fact it already has.)

Eh, this episode relied on too many pop culture references. There were more moments where I went "Wait, what?" than laughed.

Still, refreshing to see Meg getting her chance to shine.

Great episode! I'm actually glad for Meg got her revenge. I knew she was going to go back to her old ways at the end of the episode though.

Huh? We did? Wasn't that clearly for the purpose of a one-time parody? How would animation like that suit this show at all times?

Wow, Seth makes joke at The Simpsons. Thought that War ended, well wonder what Matt will do back the next? Oh wells, good epiosde. Loved it, Meg standing up to Peter a lot in this episode was just so freakin awesome. I just loved it.

One of the Best Family Guy episodes since the Meg Bash started! :D Peter, Brian, and Lois had that coming for a long while. And Herbert and Consuela hilarious cameo! and The Simpsons joke was good.

People thought the Disney thing from the season opener could become a permanent style?

People thought that Meg would stay the way she was in this episode?

People think the Family Guy vs Simpsons thing is a real feud?

Crazy. Anyway, I enjoyed the episode for the most part.

Some the jokes concerning Meg coming back from prison all tough and mean were pretty predictable. And having not seen the music video for "The Ballad of Billy the Kid", I was left staring at the screen for that bit.

About the only joke off-hand that I laughed at was Peter saying he couldn't find his Bill Cosby sweater. There may be a few more, but I'm drawing a blank right now.

I laughed at the Goofy bit, mostly because of what he said and the use of his trademark scream. I did enjoy how they gave Meg the spotlight, even though I am not one of her biggest fans. But man, Peter was being violated in every way in this episode. I think I might have to rewatch it later tomorrow when it makes it to Hulu.

Liked it. The fly thing was great, I laughed hard at the use of Goofy's trademark scream, the thing with Peter and the bull was, umm, yeah, and it was nice to see Meg toughen up some.
The thing that bugged me this episode was the opening when Diane Simmons talking and not moving at all. I wanted to scream that made me so mad.
Other than that I liked this episode. Pretty good. Season 8 continues to be pretty strong.

Not really.

I find it funny and I don't agree with it at all. It's hilarious mainly because it's so wrong. You're not supposed to relate to the racist humor. You're supposed to laugh at the idea that someone could really be that intolerant or racist.

Who is the "someone", though? That's what confuses me about some of these racial gags they throw in. I know the writers aren't actually racist and they're just trying to be edgy, but it's hard to know what the object of my laughter is supposed to be. It's not like Peter is saying "Boy, if they had NASCAR in China they'd just crash all the time, huh?" The writers are actually depicting NASCAR in China, not through the lens of a certain character or anything like that. The only thing I can figure out is that it's sort of a meta-joke about how the writers are getting away with saying that. Which I guess is okay, I dunno. Not really my thing.

No, far worse was when Mort said "boy, I hope I don't get robbed again today. Oh, hello, four black guys!" As if it's a foregone conclusion that if you see four black guys together, they're here to rob you.
