Family Guy C&C Talkback (1/13/08) - "McStroke"

The first act crashed and burned; saying "mustache" ten thousand times is not funny. Who WOULD think that was funny?

Stewie's B plot was better, but not enough to save the episode.

And Ricardo Montalban or not, I just wasn't feeling that cow.
"You task me, Freakazoid."

I dislike that parody of One Tree Hill. Not for the "your problems will never be worse than high school" but instead for the mention that gazing at a lake makes all those problems go away. As the way characters get through their problems on that show (the male ones anyway) is through the game of basketball so something like "all your problems go away when you play basketball" would have been at least more accurate but not really any funnier.

Their Dawson and Gilmore Girl parodies worked a lot better at any rate.

Yeah stem cell... uh huh...

FOX, quit while you haven't completely embarrassed yourselves.

Seth McFarlane's a great comedic voice actor, but his Robin Williams impersonation is amateurish at best. Frank Caliendo and whoever did him on SNL's Celebrity Jeopardy already covered that ground much better.

Overall, this episode was not overwhelmingly good or bad... just watchable.

Not to mention EVERY OTHER SHOW EVER. By this point, it's much funnier not to parody that scene.

Someone help me out on this: what cartoon recently pretended to spoof that scene but then didn't do it? Maybe it was actually Bonus Stage...

Yeah. I have to agree with most of the posts here if this strike doesn't get settled and Seth doesn't go back to work, that would probably be the end of 'Family Guy.' It would be the same deal if the events in 'Stewie Kills Lois/Lois Kills Stewie' were actually canon, but I guess that's another story.

But in a few years after the Blu-Ray Disc boom with the Family Guy seasons and episodes on Blu-Ray by 2012 Family Guy could be revived a third time.

That was Darrel Hammond, actually.

Back to the FG episode. Eh, it was OK, but not great. Honestly, it just seems as if the team is just going through the motions now. Thankfully, there were no Meg bashing jokes here, but basically this ep was all about Peter and Stewie. Lois was reduced to being Marge Simpson bland ("I don't think that's a good idea, honey.") I liked the joke about Will Smith's clean rap, and Connie getting her come uppance for being a stuck-up B is always amusing, but that was about it for me.

My rating: 2 out of 5.
