Family Guy - "Business Guy" - Talkback [12/13]

Season four was great. I never understood the hate for it. Then again, the only people who dislike it are Internet folks. I've never met anyone outside the Internet who disliked season four in any shape or form. Plus, that was the last really long season. 27 episodes! 30 counting Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story. Although it did take literally an entire year to air it.



As good as this episode was, it was the weakest of the night. Which is rare. Very rare! Simpsons, Cleveland, and American Dad all had better episodes and they all were about Christmas. So, FG sticked out...but not in a good way.
 
That also begs the question why does FOX air 16-18 episodes of Family Guy a season max?

Seriously, the show is a good full season behind in terms of Broadcast episodes that were produced in an entirely different season.
 
Oh that episode... I found the sub-plot to be more entertaining. I didn't really mind Brian's criticism's that much but I was like "oh c'mon!" on the part where Meg and others started burning books. :shrug:

So basically the second half of the main plot kinda sucked. The only thing I didn't like of the sub-plot was Stewie doing the "cool-whip" thing again.

That was another thing I didn't like about season 7. When they re-used some of the older bits it felt forced at times.
 
The Stewie-Star Trek B-plot was comedy gold, so seeing it mushed in with such a repugnant A-plot is even more annoying.

I also like most of the episodes you just listed, but would add Tales of a Third Grade Nothing.

As for "Business Guy", the plot setup is sort of awkward, but everything after that is solid. My favorite moment is Carter reaction to Peter's ownership of his company (against a backdrop of Bill Cosby, no less), followed closely by House, the Scooby Doo chase and the ending.
 
Season four was un-conventionally long. 30 episodes. Literally an entire year. Season five being 18 episodes was possibly a way to give the staff extra resting time. And when they realized that audiences could follow the crazy schedule they figured they could turn the show into a saftey net. FOX could cancel the show and still have a years worth of episode to air as well as DVD's to sell.
 
It really was a good episode that should have been a special all it's own I don't even like star trek but I loved the interactions. It seemed like all of season 7 was catering to those that came late.
 
I liked that one too, but mainly for the B plot with Brian and Frank Sinatra Jr. The song at the end of the episode is a lot more fun when you watch the full version on the DVD. ;)
 
Oh their just getting upset about the lap-dance scene, I've never taken the PTC seriously consdiering they think HBO should be kid friendly.
 
Yeah, and a million other things. They're just trying to make their supporters feel important, they really don't have any power at all.

And why would they pick that scene, of all things? There wasn't even sideboob or anything! It was just a girl in a bikini dancing suggestively.
 
Now this is what I call classic Family Guy. It would fit in well in the early seasons. Occasionally, they have episodes like this, and it makes the show still worth watching.

Hopefully they're dne with Political stuff. I think the only issue Brian hasn`t preached on yet is health Care, although that was the basis of a quick joke in one episode.
