Family Guy - "Baby, You Knock Me Out" - Talkback [11/14]

Again, how is that Meg bashing?! I fail to find the freaking logic in that. It's called a small gag, people!

Are there that many people desperate to think that? Jesus...

You know, it's funny. It seemed Family Guy was falling flat over the past few seasons. Now, this season appears to be picking up the slack and seems to be one of the best. Go figure. Perhaps that means there's hope for the Simpsons.

Meg bashing has become synonymous with just not being nice to Meg, and the fact that her father didn't invite her to his birthday party wasn't very nice.
So calm down.

Milking...Peter....EW!!! And then the callback at the end, so disgusting.

I am kind of surprised there was no twist at the end, Lois won the match and that's it. I know she couldn't have lost (because then she'd be dead), but maybe I was expecting a reveal that Deidre intentionally threw the fight or something.

At this point, is it really any wonder Meg reacts like that?

The quality of Family Guy seems to be going back up which is good. My favorite parts were Cleveland's card to Peter, Brian and his toy, Peter singing part of Eye of the Tiger, Peter breaking windows if he didn't get flapjacks and Meg saying good about Lois getting beaten really bad. I was glad that Lois won the fight in the end.

Did anyone else notice the extreme lack of animation during the Cleveland birthday card scene? Seriously, it was like a still frame. Peter blinked ONCE during the entire thing.

^^What exactly was there to animate? More blinking?

You know, I thought that the scene was running too long, but the card just got funnier and funnier.

"What can I say? I like watching her box!"
"That means two things!"

That was a fun little Family Guy episode. Still, at one point I was beginning to think this was the show's version of Simpson v. Tatum. But then Lois won in the end. So...

I also loved how Peter reacted to anime while drinking bourbon. Oh, and Meg's out-of-nowhere reaction to Lois getting the tar beat out of her... wow.

That was the only laugh I got out of the entire episode.

I do see what you're saying. I find it a little insulting as the viewer that they creators can just go and say "hey, we're not even going to bother animating anything for a minute and a half. Cause we know that you're going to watch the show no matter what we put on the screen." Well creators, actually The Simpsons is proof that eventually, you put garbage up on the screen for long enough, and guess what, people will stop watching.

Yeah, no. I'm positive it's more along the lines of, "Yeah, we know nothing is going on onscreen but the audio that's accompanying it should make up for it."

See, as far as I'm concerned The Simpsons has been garbage for a decade now and people are still watching it. The merchandise sells like hotcakes and the show is in no danger of going anyway. In fact, The Simpsons is actually proof positive that an established franchise can turn into complete junk and it will do nothing to turn viewers away. Yes, the ratings have gone down a bit in recent years, but IMHO I think it's due to more factors than just the show's quality.

And since FG has actually gotten much better since the somewhat iffy season 7 your point is kind of moot anyway.

Just a friendly mod note here. Please stop this debate and comments towards the quality of the Simpsons. A Family Guy episode talkback is not an appropriate place for this kind of discussion. If this thread goes off topic again with this or another conversation, infractions will be handed out.

Please resume talking about this actual episode of Family Guy. Thank you.

Funny episode...My favorite parts were Peter breaking windows for not getting his flapjacks on time, Peter singing "Eye of the Tiger",Meg's comment of "Good" after seeing Lois getting pummeled, and Lois managing to win the fight despite the odds against her...
