Family Guy - "Baby Not On Board" - Talkback [11/2]

I've been a bit disappointed with this approach as well. Particularly since a lot of them seem to lack a the punch to make the such a straighforward (and generally long) setup worthwhile.

Then again, I've never really fan of many of the cutaways that don't involve the Griffins in some way.

I think the worst thing is that it's usually from other COMEDY movies. It's not even like they're substituting the colourful characters in a dramatic situation. They're just substituting their characters with someone else's.

Awesome hilarious episode:p,

The Highlights:
Return of Carl(my favorite of Coach Mc.Guirk's characters).
Bruce is so hilarious with his creepy voice.
Mayor Adam West is the best crazy wackjob character next to Izzy from Total Drama Island/Action:anime:.
Peter using gasoline for Stewie's bottle & a space shuttle:D.
Sean Connery's appearance.
Peter/Quagmire driving,calling & killing each other:p.
They forgot Stewie,dun dun dun:eek::D!!!!!
Aquaman useless joke.
The Griffin family singing.
Hyper Stewie running around after drinking soda:p.
Stewie shooting the magazine:D.
Stewie bashing Cleveland/Quagmire.
Peter watching the other family's car TV:D.
Operation Dumbo Sex with Don Knotts had me on the floor laughing so HARD:D:D:D:p:p!!!!
Great Meg-bashing:crashing car/Stewie using her hat.
Patch Adams joke with the dying kid:p.
Fozzy Bear joke.
Stewie getting a job:D.
Stewie messing with the food & vomiting:p.
Cleveland/Quagmire mimicing the DirectTV commercial voice & Cleveland mentioned his own spinoff series of the Cleveland show:p.

Wow,Quagmire does look like that pilot character from Larry & Steve:eek:(Seth's 1st best creation) on how they made his character.
H. Jon Benjamin did great as Carl besides his roles as Jason/Coach Mc.Guirk in Home Movies & the Devil in Lucy,Daughter of the Devil.
Overall, what a hilarious episode which Peter is more hilarious than Homer with his hilarious antics,I hope the next episode will be hilarious.

XD great episode, I like Peter getting a spaceship,Peter watching TV in another car,and Stewie reading a porn magazine and shooting it

That Aquaman cutaway was probably the 3rd or 4th worst cutaway in the show's history.

In fact, if it wasn't for the awful cutaways in this episode and the reenactment scenes with no real twist at all (c'mon, put some effort in), it probably would have been far stronger.

The funny parts in this episode where: Mayor West's wardrobe getting masaged, the helpless Aquaman, the looking at Ground Zero, the brief fight with Quagmire and Peter, the kid dying after hearing Patch Adams, and Peter leading a singing of the Bette Midler song "The Rose".

Meh. This really wasn't that good a night for FOX. This ep was better than both the Simpsons and American Dad one, but it still phailed. Some of the jokes were a little... over the top, which does not equal funny. And other jokes were just exact copies of scenes from great movies (god, I miss the Muppet Movie).

Hmmmm. What can I say that hasn't already been said? I liked 'The Muppet Movie' reference and the reference to 'The Cleveland Show.' Actually, that's the first tag scene FG had in a while. It is nice that we haven't seen Herbert this season, now if they would just get rid of Bruce. I was wondering what movie they were referencing with that scene where Peter told Lois to accept the way he was. Looks like I'll have to rent 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' and look for that scene. Then there's references to 'Home Alone' and 'Back to the Future.' Movie references are always good, but they could have used more new material.

Though I do agree with Lois for getting angry with Peter when he kept fooling around. He was being an idiot most of the trip. Of course that's because he's Peter. Lol.

My thoughts before reading all 5 pages of comments:

A standard post-revival episode with a few decent jokes but nothing too great. The most remarkable thing in the episode was the most blatant political plot derailment ever: they stopped at Ground Zero on a trip from Rhode Island to the Grand Canyon. Why? For Brian to criticize the war in Iraq. Pretty amazing. Sometimes I almost wonder if the Family Guy writers have some sort of disease that prevents them from understanding how to do something in a funny way instead of doing it in a non-funny way. It's just hard for me to believe that they actually think it's a good idea to take a full minute out of the episode to give each other a high five, so I guess someone must have legitimately thought that was a joke.

That's not the only thing I disliked about the episode, it's just the only thing I felt like discussing. We've been over the other problems before. They've done much worse, but I don't think I'll be rewatching this one unless nothing else is on at all.

As a geek, I have to protest the constant debasement of Aquaman. He's not only superhumanly strong, he can survive on land as well. And don't even get into his psychic abilities that are more than just communicating with sea life. OK, I'm done.

The main problem with the Aquaman cutaway was that they already did one. Well, that and it went on too long.

I liked the Patch Adams cutaway, even though it was many years too late.

I don't watch Family Guy much, but I caught the ep last night. The bit about Stewie's first um, exposure to an adult magazine did give me a chuckle, and I also liked the odd little singalong of "The Rose". But everything else was so....tedious. The tiresome 9/11-Iran-Iraq bit, the pointless references to Back To The Future, Home Alone, etc. Sheesh. Not much entertainment value overall.
