Family Guy - "420" - Talkback [4/19]

"In other news, children are getting sexier...and that's pretty cooooool..."

At first I was like
But then I was like

To prove that Peter can't sing and how much the staff needs to cut back on long jokes that aren't either clever or funny.

There wasn't anything humorous with this one. It just went by me with no effort to make me laugh.

Agreed. Making fun of Helen Keller and having yet ANOTHER Michael Jackson joke as well was just the icing on the cake.

I only watch FG on occasion these days, and this episode reminds me why. Overall, it was mediocre. Once again we have an issue and naturally Brian is the smart one, whereas the idiots in the show stand up for the position that Seth disagrees with, and law enforcement gets bashed for good measure (dead corpse? No problem! Drugs? Terrible!). I guess that and the mindless Fox News bashing will be quite enough to make it a smash hit with the stoner college kid demographic. Well, to be fair, the show also made fun of the legalization consequences with Peter and the news crew being too high to even say anything coherent.

Jokes were hit or miss. The song was meh. The siren joke was amazingly stupid. Mocking Brian over his crappy novel was amusing, as was Peter's "I killed your cat" line.

Marginally acceptable if you can overlook Brian's sermonizing. It should be said that this is not nearly as bad as "angry liberal Brian" has been before.

Again, I think it's because, even though he's still clearly a meat puppet to Seth's views, he at least got some form of misery for his effort at the end this time, which makes the whole thing more bearable. Unlike the previous episodes, in which he's been proven right indefinately and everyone else (Lois in "FOX-y Lady", Meg in "Not All Dogs Go To Heaven", etc.) just break and admit defeat.

One gripe I have for this is that Brian is more evolved than the Road Rovers, when it comes to being around a cat. Any dog would chase a cat around, because for dogs, some habits die hard.

How could you be squeamish for animals and not humans? Do you care more about animals than humans? If so, that's not right.

Anyway, I enjoyed this episode much more than the other recent episodes.

In your opinion, anyway. I couldn't give a crap about the average person.

Pretty solid episode, though the jokes were far more entertaining than the plot was. The song was great, too.

Not for me. I don't smoke anything, never tried, never considered and don't ever intend to consider it, but still agree 100% with brian/seth's point of view. His explanation before peter cut the cheese was entirely true, and while my personal experience is that pot makes people lazy and absent minded, I cannot agree that it causes enough harm to be criminalized even mildly, let alone a federal offense.

Brian's "comeuppance" was just depressingly realistic.

Why? It's a completely natural, human sentiment to view animals as more innocent, especially a small, vulnerable pet.

I still found it darkly hilarious, but I completely understand why someone would be just plain disturbed.

I kinda hope a future episode has Quagmire get back at Peter for it. The show has plenty of callbacks along those lines.
