"Fame" the movie remake

Just heard they are remaking Fame the movie. The original was sh*te so hope it follows the TV shows lighter format. Also with Footloose being redone and Ghostbusters 3! i think film makers are running out of ideas. There are jus some films like Grease, Dirty Dancing, Annie, Italian Job and Great Escape that should never be remade. The Italian Job movie retell was OK but sticking some minis in early didnt justify the title.
 
Why do people always see remakes and sequels as a sign that the movie industry has run out of ideas? It's easy to forget that the original Fame came out in the same year as The Jazz Singer, Flash Gordon, The Blue Lagoon, Any Which Way You Can, The Empire Strikes Back and Smokey and the Bandit II.

Classic films like The Wizard of Oz (1939) and Ben-Hur (1959) were remakes. Hollywood has been "running out of ideas" for a long time but, inexplicably, the filmmakers keep coming up with new ideas alongside the recycled ones.
