Fall 2009 HD channel number changes

The bigest problem is that the guide is frequently incorrect re actuall program information or title or episode #. That just screws up the timer.

As well, for Sunday Ticket, it would be nice to get the HD network channels repeated above the HD block of NFL channels as well. It saves a lot of jumping around - I have no idea why they got rid of that this year.

agreed. Its very annoying for shows that don't even list the season or episode number and multiple episodes of the same show get recorded.

I just found Channel 887, love the fact that it says the first phase starts yesterday..... Typical Bell.

I can only speak for my situation. The new channels have been stable from the day each group was introduced. None have disappeared.

I still have the NFL HD channels after the SD Sunday Ticket channels. The HD channels have always been listed after the SD channels, or before if you have your guide arranged going from highest to lowest.

Same here. I haven't seen any channels disappear since the move started happening. I've already moved all my timers to the new channels.

What are these stations? I'm looking at the schedule and seeing endless repeats of old shows and nothing in HD!? More waste.

I personally don't understand the rush to change your timers. Before Bell shuts off the 800's they are bound to announce a date for the officail switch over.
They have done this in the past when they shuffle channels. They are still perfecting the change over and when they get all the bugs out, they'll announce a date for the switch by including it with the message telling you what the new channel #'s are and on the info channels 887. I'll change my timers then.

So assuming there are moving al the HD to the 1000's, what does this mean for the 800's? I noticed a tonn of DV channels have appeared below 0049?

Could another major channel re-alinement be in the works for BTV subs?

Someone mentioned something about DV channels. I see several DV channels in my guide. What does it mean?

Sorry. I missed the Oct 26th date in relation to this thread. Did Bell post this date?

"I just found Channel 887, love the fact that it says the first phase starts yesterday..... Typical Bell. "

To be fair, that is because they did start phase 1 yesterday. I reprogrammed all my PVR timers last night when I first noticed they were moving all the HD channels. The information channels likely started showing this information before yesterday. The "channel moving" tags started showing up yesterday.

One very minor drawback to leaving your timers on the 800s for now: the descriptive info attached to recorded programs is cluttered with the channel change warnings. That's annoying for recordings that you want to save for a while.

markb: History HD? Do you mean the Canadian History Channel in HD? Does it even exist? I can't find any reference to it at the History Channel website.

Its possible they may use 8QSP or what ever the name is not MPEG4 but the other compressing system.

As for the 800's its possible that BTV may be getting ready to add Sirus or XM FM raddio to its system as most of the 900's are full of Galaxie & Radio Stations.
