Fake bike?

On a recent trip to Hong Kong, I was put onto an Indonesian guy by a business partner.

This Indonesian guy can source Ducatis cheaply and was wondering if anyone has experience with purchasing bikes offshore?
Are these cheap bikes fake?
Can they be imported?
Can they be registered or are they purely track bikes
what's the deal?

would be checking the background of it first, and wouldn't part with any money at all until you had the bike in front of you ready to take away.... smells a rat...

roughly US$5k each for a order of 4.

not stolen, brand new in original packaging with certification etc...

He has 6 at the moment but is expecting another 8 next month.

What exact model and year is this bike?

Sorry, I don't know my way around Ducatis well.

I thought that China may have produced some rip offs and sold them to Indonesia maybe, not sure if this is a common practice at all??

Are you kidding? The one in the picture is the Desmosedici, that very bike that Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt had the very public pissing match over. It's worth about 70 thousand US dollars. There's only 1500 in the world, and you can be sure every one can be accounted for. Five grand... Come on.

I don't think you could even make a copy that would fool fifteen year old tart for five grand.

The deal is this is impossible. Two of the bikes in that picture are worth well over 100 grand alone (the desmosedici and the R bike). They are both this years model. They are both of very limited production numbers. They're very stolen or they don't exist. If they were even possibly legit he could put an ad on Ebay for 50 thousand for the Desmo and I'm sure someone would fly there to get it.

In case I wasn't clear, THIS IS TOTAL BULLSHIT!
