Fainting.

I have never fainted before in my life, but today I fainted twice within a span of about 10 minutes or so. I have no idea why this could be. I am severely hypothyroid and have been taking synthroid since I was born, my dose just got upped but I haven't received my prescription yet. Could it have something to do with this? Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have any advice?

I am posting this in a couple places because I'm not sure where it belongs...

Today I fainted twice within about 10 minute time span. I have never fainted ever in my life. I do not know what could have caused this. I was taking a shower at the time. By boyfriend said that it could have just been that the water was too hot, maybe... but the water really didn't feel that warm. It scared me though, should I wait and see if this happens again, or should I seek a doctor?

My friend has fainted in the hot shower too. There is something about vaseldiolaters or something. I am not sure how to explain it. If it is that it is nothing serious. But I would be scared too. Just take it easy and make sure someone is around when you take a shower again. I would consult a doctor to cover your bases.

I have thyroid issues and I definitely nearly fainted recently. I went to the ER and they said there was nothing wrong with me, and that it was not related to my thyroid. Right. I don't buy it. Do you get your calcium checked? Maybe try that. Also pay attention to your blood sugar.

I would definitely see a doctor about this. One thing commonly associated with fainting is low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), but there should be other symptoms along with it, which I'm not sure about in your case (you didn't mention anything.)

There are quite a few reasons for fainting-one being your thyroid. There are also cardiac problems and sometimes neurological problems. It can also be some strange benign event that will never happen again. You should definately call your doctor, either the doctor treating you for your thyroid problem (you do not mention if this doctor is your primary care) or your primary care. I am sure one of them will most likely want to see you sooner vs later.
Keep us posted as to how you are doing.
