Facebook Sync

I am getting an error with Facebook sync.

I have NO contacts from Facebook in my contacts I have no calendar entries because I had it unchecked. the way I like, so I deleted the account, took off FB, reinstalled it, took out the battery and reinstalled it. I synced the contacts, and then I still get an error message.

Google is syncing fine.

Might someone suggest to me what the problem is? What to do??

Thanks again

Are you using the Vibrant? I am also experiencing issues with syncing fb contacts. Oddly, Samsung fb status widget is updating fine. However, contact info, pictures, etc. from fb will not sync to contacts. When I go Settings > Accounts and Sync, fb gives error "Sync is currently experiencing problems. it will be back shortly." It has not come back shortly...

Please advise

The number of complaints related to Samsung's Facebook syncing is astronomical. It seems to mess up very frequently, in some cases preventing the Contacts app from ever loading.

I've experienced this quite a few times myself. And I must say it's very annoying. C'mon Samsung I'm trying to give you the benefit of doubt...

~Is what Zay said from his~ Vibrant~~>

Well, I've been using my SGS now for a day, and had no problems with it at all. Contacts, Calendar, etc all work fine. I have not set up Facebook on it and don't want to.

GPS got a log from cold in about 20 seconds. It now gets a lock in about 5. No problems there either.

Extorian
-The SGS is the same, if the internet look up is right LOL, as the Galaxy right
-what are some of the main differences in that and the Vibrant. Any feature on the Vibrant that you like better on the Vibrant than the Original? They , as in the main reviewers, say that the Vibrant is closest to the Galaxy than any of the Big 4 versions. correct?

Yeah, the Samsung Galaxy S, Vibrant, Captivate, etc, are all the same phone but with very minor and mostly irrelevant differences.

The only difference I know of, other than the name, is that one of them doesn't have a forward facing camera.

thanks Extorian. So is that your main phone? what is your carrier

I thought it was the opposite...I thought all but one don't have a front camera

I didnt think the captivate has one, and I know the Vibrant doesn't have one.

so if that is your only phone, then great
If not, and you have another, what is it, My point being, before getting the Vibrant, which I LOVE, I had the NEXUS which I LOVED too, just had 3 phones with 3 problems, I would have ordered again, just their timing wasnt good. I heard about the NOT selling online, I feared where I would get help from. As you can see...I can work my way around but you can nsee I like to, lets just say, talk about phones. I don't need major help, but I like to be understand everything about them and if something small is not working or I dont' understand I like to have someone to call. I feared who that person would be. Not an unrealistic fear, I don't think

Anyway, If I should still find that support is OK, if I get the money, I may order one. I still believe, all I believe it is and will be one of the better phones for a year or so. coming from more of an expert, do you agree? I could not make up my mind (the support issue aside) with the n1 getting Froyo, etc..all other updates. some saying Samsung will not get them quickly. Well they said they are guaranteed having the large screen + 1.0 ghz processor. So I think having this phone for the next 1-2 years until I buy my next will keep me in the league with having one of the best. We all like that. With that. mY main points were to ask you, since we're not in the Nexus forum ...Nexus or Vibrant??? AND, if I were to get a second phone, is there a need? Or would it strictly be a desire. I have people say there is no need. People with two phones hate it? so that is why 20 lines up I asked if the Galaxy was your main phone..being unlocked I suppose most in the US are?
Does that work on any 3g network? I didn't think it would work on ATT or Tmo, so maybe cellular ??

I had (have) a G1 for 18 months. I got my SGS yesterday. I'm on T-Mobile in the UK, but I bought the phone without a contract as it was cheaper for me in the long run. I never use many texts or minutes, so the biggest factor for me is the monthly cost.

You may well be correct. I meant what I said literally... as in... I know that one doesn't have a FFC. I know my SGS does have one. But that's all I know. The others may not have one either - I just don't know.

It's hard to say if the SGS line of phones will be one of the better ones for a year or so, because new Android phones are coming out all the time. A month or two ago the HTC Desire and Nexus One were the top two phones. Then a month later it was the HTC Evo or SGS. There are already rumours of dual processor phones coming out, running at 1.5GHz or even 2GHz. A 2GHz dual processor phone could be 4x faster than the SGS.

The SGS is a GSM phone, so it won't work on CDMA networks. However, one of the variants may well be CDMA, I don't know. Mine was unlocked because I didn't buy it with a contract. I got the phone separately from another place.

Only you can answer the question as to if you want/need/desire two phones.

Is the SGS better than the Nexus? I think so. The Nexus has been out for over half a year now. The SGS has faster hardware, better hardware, and a much better screen. The Nexus has some advantages though - it's the most easily rootable phone out there, it'll get offical and custom updates more quickly than any other phone, and it has Android 2.2, which makes it run about 4x faster than it did on 2.1 in many circumstances. Samsung has promised Android 2.2 for the SGS range of phones before the end of the year, and maybe within the next month or two. When that happens, the SGS will probably be the fastest Android phone out there. Unofficial 2.2 ROMs will probably be available even sooner.

I was able to resolve the problem myself by going to applications and clearing the Facebook data. I then signed it to the Facebook app again. Then I went to Accounts and Sync and went to Facebook, then unchecked Sync Contacts and then rechecked it. Then it worked.
