facebook... on facebook chat what does it mean if someone has a moon beside their name..

...instead of green dot? ......just wondering... are they offline??? or have they not clicked on anything in the past few mins and its on stand-by mode or something??

just curious to know, sometimes started talking to people with moon beside their name and they don't respond, lol!
 
I think it's idle, they are still online but haven't actively used chat for a while. Like i had a friend with the moon and i said something and he responded back and the moon became a green dot.
 
yup, its idle ... & incase your wondering, you cant set it as idle, like you can on msn etc ... so atleast you know the person is genuinely not there - rather than being ignorant :o)

They don't respond cause maybe they're busy with something else while their facebook is on.. Same thing goes for MSN as said before.
