Facebook has gone down this evening in a rare outage which has left users unable to access their accounts, receiving a “Sorry, something went wrong” error message instead. As tends to be the case during Facebook outages, those who prefer the Twitter networks took the opportunity to flaunt the downtime, while those who use both social networks took to Twitter to fret over the fact that Facebook was down.
“Well Facebook is down. I’m not sure what to do now. Better panic. I may just lose control,” tweeted @719guy in a post which may or may not have been sarcastic. “When @facebook goes down the first thing I do is check @twitter,” stated @patrickdparker. But in a reminder of just how stable and reliable Facebook normally is, @excaldksan pointed out “I can’t actually remember the last time Facebook went down.”
Some Twitter users gloated about the Facebook outage while they could. Twitter often struggles to load during moments of major news or even major Apple product announcements. No word from Facebook yet as to what’s causing tonight’s outages or when they can be expected to pass.
