Facebook chat not working ?!?

Ok for a while now my Facebook chat is not working. Every time I click on someone online to chat & the chat window appears it instantly says "This person is now offline". I can even do that with everybody until it appears as if every one is offline and there is no one in my chat room.
Also I recently found out I don't appear online when I am. Today I told my sister to write me and I didn't appear on the list and she said I never appear online.
Any help on what might be wrong or on what should I do ?
 
I had this exact same problem.
Try making a new group and add people into that group. Then talk to those people and it should be fixed.
Also make sure you are online and not offline
