Facebook chat is not working for me?

Whenever I go online in facebook, open the online friends box, and click on one of my online friends to chat with them, the chat thing opens, but it says that they are offline (when they are online). Before it did work and I could chat with them, but now it doesn't work. :(

Have any of you had this problem???

it has been like this for months
 
yeah me too,but are some things that cause that (at last the majority part)
from experience on firefox the chat is not working very good,so try to download google chrome a great web browser,and then is the tab issue,more open tab you have on facebook more the chat stops responding
