Facebook chat is broken?

Yesterday I set it to offline so nobody would message me and now today all day, when i click on it to turn it on it briefly pops up and say 0 people are on and then shuts off

Has this been happening to anyone else?
 
I am having the same problem, and its becoming quite irritating. I dont know what it is--my friends were having it previously in the week (when I wasn't), and I dont know what's going on now
