I am the marketing manager that has just been given the task of managing a local business Facebook page (with complete authorization from the business). I went looking around and found that there were a few duplicate pages, one of which I was given access very quickly and the other is run by a high school kid. The page run by the high school kid even has the company logo and is more or less misrepresenting the business.
I figured out how to contact the kid and he had a bit of an attitude at first but then realized I wasn't screwing around. Our first conversation whent like this:
Me: "Are you the Admin of the "[insert business name here]" Facebook Group?"
Kid: "Yeah why?"
Me: "Any way I would be able to talk you into gracefully handing over the Facebook the page? My job is to manage both the [insert business name here] Facebook page and twitter account."
Kid: "You can have it for 15 dollars."
More or less the kid is holding the business page hostage for $15. My boss and the businesses marketing manager don't want to reward this kid for doing two things: 1) illegally misrepresenting their business 2) Illegaly using the business logo
I need to figure out a way to report the page for misrepresentation. Facebook does not currently offer that as a way to report a page and there is no way to contact Facebook about this issue. There, also, is no information on the subject in the Facebook Help.
Last attempt at getting rid of this other page would be to report copyright infringement for using the business logo (most favored by the business owner) but I would rather it not get that far. Any ideas?
