new firmware gave new opportunities, the newest one allows to download widgets

What are widgets? no more no less than

After I asked somebody to upload one for me, gringosteve had the same idea as me to check what's inside..

Yes, good job indeed!

Now you can look into your widgets and change the graphic files, or even add languages freely. It's just enough to unzip it and then do some editing work.

And one more thing, know Opera? - the browser? It uses widgets in the same format and as well it works fine with the widgets form F480. So now you can try do use some opera widgets as well or transfer some from the phone to your browsers. :>

Once more you should thank to gringosteve
for his useful info

So let This therad be only for widgets uloading, dofferent ones, original, modified, any, just write about your modifications and share them [;

and how do install it on my f480 ?

thanks

1. upload it form your phone using wap
2. try uploading from pc to phone via cable or bluetooth and the run

you shouldn't unzip!

unzipping is only for changin things inside

if this does not work we must try to find another method

Hi All,

I have managed to used QPST to look at the phone and I can see all the widgets that come with the phone there. This should mean that if we want to modify any of the existing widgets to create new widgets it should be fairly simple.

I'll find the messaging one next and work out how that runs... then see if i can find a way of loading it up :-)

hello, please upload them somewhere,
could you give me tha path to them in qpst [don't own f480 myself]

TIA

regards,
stn

Quick widget update.

The widgets that are downloaded get stored in a specific directory in the filesystem together with some other related files.

The ones that come default with the Firmware are nowhere to be seen, other than the new style web widgets.

I created a new widget and placed it in the right directory, but still cannot see it on the phone.

I placed a widget on a website and tried to download via wap...still not installed!!!!!

So not too sure how to progress now..

Is this working? Where is the folders in QPST that you found the widgets and also I found some RSR files but the can't be opened with winrar I see NO css files where exactly are they?

So Gringo are you gonna share some info on where the widgets get stored that you download? I can see the stock widgets by the way there in a certain folder under the system folder

A guy on handy faq has worked out how to do it

A program called winimage can be used to hack open the ffs file and play with it!

search for handy-faq in google, translate it to english and go to page 6 of the following thread

samsung's f480 widget - all around the widget's

:-)

When I open QPST, it doesn't recognize my tocco, but TkFileExplorer does. What am I doing wrong?

Which firmware version supports these new widgets? Is it the one with the new touchwiz gui?

so, has anyone found out how to get the original widgets(sms, media-player...)? It would be nice to edit them. If not maybe we can try to import some of the pixon widgets. They should be very similar.

Ok...quick update.

My digging around showed me two things:

1) I could only find the code for new widgets (google, widget downloader etc) not the ones for the old style widgets such as bluetooth and message.

2) I tried to create my own version of the google widget (just some image changes) and load it up. The phone said it did not recognise the file format when i hosted it on a website.

3) I uploaded the widgets to a folder in the phone but that didnt install them. I tried following the same trick as for java games but that didnt work either.

4) After doing all this I was using my phone the other day and my new style widgets all broke. They turned to clock symbols and would not appear properly any more. I think i must have done something while messing with the phone..I had to reflash the firmware to get the widgets back!

Guys can someone download Post It widget and post it here?? I cant download anything from More Widgets widget....
