My daughter's boyfrend became uncouscious twice at church Sunday. He looked dead! His eyes were open but not blinking. His jaw was locked I couldn't open it. All of his limbs were locked tight. The first time he was standing the second time we had gone out to the foyer and he was sitting. He was not breathing. His leg muscles with so straight his foot going straight out like that knocked his shoe off. What could this be? Please Help!

Makes me think of some kind of epileptic seizure. I think you can have the tonic without the clonic, or it could be a complex partial. What's he like afterwards?

Does HE actually ask you, of his own accord as soon as it finishes, "what happened to me?" or does he seem unaware that anything unusual happened until YOU ask him what happened or how he is first?

this really does sound like at least 'some" certain level of seizure activity and NEEDS to be evaluated by at least a good neurologist who can do specific types of testing and possibly treat this with meds depending? there just ARE many different 'types' of seizures possible when the brain is firing too many signals or too the wrong places? the brain kind of 'does not know what to do" so it gets a little crazy in there and shows it outwardly as some level of siezure activity. thats kind of the very very basics of what creates a seizure(tho it really CAN have many different 'causes" that trigger that type of activity)? it IS much much more involved than that, but something in his brain is not working 'right' with nerve firings or synapses? getting to a good neurologist really would be the best type of doc for him to see. they just KNOW what types of testing would show the best nerve flows and firings up in a persons brain. hopefully it wont take too long to actually get a good solid Dx made as far as what is going on up there and the 'whys". this could also very well be more of an underlying 'symptom' of something there that does really NEED to be found too. good luck with this and DO please keep us all posted as to what you find out. He said"What" due to me holding his head. When I told him what happened He just said foreal . Now he is scared it may happen again I did find out it happened in Feb of this year but they didn't find out why.Sun. He did eat and drink something before church. Do you know what He could do to not have this happen again?

In that case I definitely think it's a seizure of some sort. The first thing my husband always says after one is a sort of vacant "What?" I just asked cos occasionally you do get someone who has non-epileptic behavioural fits as a sort of hysteria response to a situation. He seems both unaware of what has happened and also a bit dazed afterwards, which are all pointers to an epileptiform seizure - which are not always just caused by plain epilepsy but sometimes other serious but treatable conditions that are irritating the brain.

Doctor ASAP, as seizures can be dangerous and need controlling.
