Extreme War At Doctors Office

My 4 year old daughter, her name is Michelle, is more than uncomfortable with any kind of Doctor visit.
A couple of days ago she had to get a flu shot.
6 people (doctor, me, my husband and 3 nurses tried to hold her down to get the thing done but we did not get it because her legs seemed to be as strong as bull's legs when she screamed and went wild and she kicked out and escaped with breaking the doc's nose bone when he tried to hold her back. My husband went after her and caught her but in an adrenaline rush she kicked him and broke free.
It was not the first time such things happened and i want to know if there is anyone out there who ever experienced something like that.
 
My wife and I have four children, for the most part they don't care for shots but they comply so we havn't expirenced this problem.
I would like to add that we both talked at length about getting them flu shots and were against the process and opted out of the shots for them. We researched the issue and felt that it's not the end of the world for them to get the flu and allow thier bodies to recover naturally. Indeed each one of them was out most of last week from school. One confirmed with the H1N1, the others assumed the same. They are all doing well today with no fevers and some residual coughing.

That being said, I would advise that in the future, for shots that are completely optional such as this one you concider opting out of the process rather than putting your child through such a tramatic incident.

We are not zelots about shots, our children have all had the regular childhood imunizations. We do however feel that to many people are to quick to jump on the pandemic train and fail to look at the overall numbers.

For her regular shots and boosters, you may concider medication before the visit. I'm sure your doctor would be happy to prescribe this for her. An incident such as you described will dammage your child's ablity to trust the adults the very adults she should turn to for help (her parents). Please take time to talk to your daughter about what happened in the doctor's office that day.
