i've had back pain for 4-5 years once it started the pain gradually grew stronger and now the most pain is in the middle of my back on the left side, it's gotten so bad that i can't slouch or bend easily without getting a sharp stabbing pain, and the dull pain is ALWAYS there. i've seen so many doctors, gotten so many blood tests, seen chiropractors, therapists anything you can think of. nobody knows what's wrong with me, the only thing doctors came up with is that i have stress and this is where my extreme back pain is coming from, but i don't have stress. just today i started having this horrible pain on the right side and this time its in one little spot that has been hurting all day non-stop, it feels like someone's stabbing me in the back with a knife. other than the pain my back produces i can only feel the touch on my skin, if someone punches my back i can't feel it, i can't feel heat or cold on my back anymore. and recently i've been having hip pains too, right where the leg meets the pelvis, in that joint. does anyone have any idea what's wrong with me?

Hello Courtneymarie ~

Welcome to the board. Sorry you're having enough pain that you looked us up! I must say your particular problem, as you described it sounRAB unique to me. What kind of diagnostic testing have you had done? Have you ever had a MRI?

Hopefully one of our brilliant merabers will recognize what you are describing!!

i've had an MRI, i've been tested for lyme disease, rheumatoid arthritis (i think that's how it's spelled) and numerous other blood tests and everything tested negative, i've had 2 bone scans, and another type of scan i can't remeraber. its really annoying to me that no doctors know what's wrong with me and i'm enduring all this pain, the only thing they really figured out was that i have a "small case of OCD" which i'm pretty sure is a little more than a small case. if that has anything to do with back pain i'm not sure.

This might sound way out there, but since your tests have been negative there's a few things I can think of that cause back pain that you didn't mention being tested for. One is MS which is detected by a brain MRI, the other is your level of Vitamin D.

Low D means your body is not absorbing calcium like it should (along with A) and actually cause back pain and early osteoporosis.

Also you said you had an MRI but what part was scanned? Was your cervical spine done at all? I would really demand an entire spine scan, often doctors only check the area of the pain and back pain is so misleading. While you might hurt in one specific point the source of the pain itself may really be coming from someplace else.

Lastly was your thyroid tested at all and have you seen a nuerologist to rule out nuerology related problems?

I am having many of the same problem. They say I have a buldge on a disk in my lower back that is pinching a nerve..now they want to send me to a surgeon. I wonder if anyone has had surgery like that. Did it help you? Was it full back surgery or laser.
