I live in England, so I can't access REU for students and things like that, and I want to start building up some extracurriculars for when I go to university in three years time, and my school's careers advisor seems more interested in diplomas than people going to university, so isn't much help. I saw that scientific research was a good idea, but I wouldn't know where to start. Any ideas from past experience etc would be gratefully received e.g. would volunteering at a hospital be wise?
