extensive employment background check and retail theft database?

Here is what happened:

I am an adult. I was caught stealing somthing of $57 value by the clerk. He did not call the police. He asked me to pay for it with my credit card and took my driver license info down on his computer. Then he let me go. This was my first time. It happened in Cambridge, MA.

There is this thing called retail theft database, which records shoplifting and employee theft incidents from nearly 1,000 member companies. These incidents were never prosecuted. Some reference check company offer the service to check the retail theft database, such as this one below...

I am currently seeking executive positions in Fortune 500 companies. I was wondering if this will show up during their extensive employment background checks ?


It was stupid, I really regreted it, what shall I do ?
