Extending Composite Cables?

i want to extend my av composite cables (red, yellow, white). do i need to by a long one or can i buy some regular cables and solder the ends to it, would this work? would it make the quality bad? if it worked it would be cheaper than buying a long composite cable this is why i want to know if it would
